The progress of twisty puzzles the last few years just completely blows my mind away. Take this post from April of 2005. viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3629&hilit=gigaminxIt's the "first" Gigaminx and it's a hoax. Of course a few weeks later if I recall, TBTyler made a real functioning one and that was like the 'triple fused void petaminx' of the time. So with that said, Congrats! Well done! and I can't even imagine what we'll see in another 7 years, hopefully the log curve is still in the growth phase. -d

I never would have guessed I would say this, but spraypaint the puzzle assembled. Do some masking with tape and do one side at a time.
But if it is possible, stickers would be really really nice!

As you say with a bit of masking this should be a reasonable way to solve the problem, even if it doesn't look as good as a black shiny puzzle with stickers Dave

My idea for the stickering: Tape over everything but single faces and then apply VERY LIGHT coats of paint, turning the layers between each piece every time the paint dries.
That might work.

I don't get why there's not more buzz about this. Wasn't there like a ton of buzz around the cubing community when the petaminx came out? But otherwise, I can't wait to see it finished and I can't wait to see the video

I can't remember that one of my threads in "new puzzles" ever had such a "buzz". On topic: It is unfair to leave this unfinished!

personally, I'm inclined to believe that this is real. I met the maker at nationals (before he announced it here) and he described to me how he kept having to order more pieces because he didn't order enough. But I'm getting less and less sure..... could we at least have a response message from you yummyyummypbj?

I also have met Matt in person and handled his 1x9x9. I don't see any reason to believe this is fake. A video can be faked too (Tony would agree I believe). Given his history of creating high orders of existing puzzles, I don't understand where the doubt comes from.
That said, I'm sure everyone would like a video just to get a better look at this.

I'm actually glad this got bumped, because I commenced stickering it. My stickering method starts by sanding each face with very high gritt sand paper. This will help to remove most of the dust. Then I will use some ultra adhesive tape, and cover all of the faces. I'm hoping that the adhesive will transfer into the puzzle. Then I will use stickers cut from a sticker cutter. I give it a 28.7% chance of working. But who knows, miracles happen. Anyway, turning this thing is a nightmare. But who really cares. It's an examinx. I don't think a video will be that amusing until It is stickered. I realize that I may have revealed this a little too early, but I'm a very impatient person. And a note to all: I've been on the forum a lot recently, I just didn't have any input.

I just love higher order cubes and applaud your accomplishment. You should be very proud. Can't wait to see the stickered version. Hopefully, an examinx will one day be added to my minx family.

Matt says he would like to have his Examinx fully stickered before making another video, and that can't happen until I get my vinyl cutter set up on Linux and cut the stickers (the template appears to be missing...)

I rarely post here, but a full stickered functional Examinx is the [Censored. Please be nice!]. Looking forward to this.
