This is the most complex uniform polyhedra I know. In the Wenninger Catalog is has the numer 119. Is was extrem difficult to design. Because every axis or cut destroy the patterns of the shape I built it as an 2x2x2 mod. Attachment:

Love it! I'm glad I'm not the only one who looks up these extreme shapes and wishes they were puzzles...

I absolutely love all of these stellated and non-convex polyhedra you've been making lately. Can you comment on how you're designing the base solid? Are you using Mathematica or POV-Ray or some other math-based geometry tool and then importing it to another tool like Solidworks?

I love this puzzle a lot because its a star puzzle and because it doesn't have a lot of gap age in like the ones before(no offense taken I hope to the makers of them).
May we see it in mid turn and fully stickered. I have no idea on how this moves.

Amazing shape, I don't know how you would even begin when creating something like this it must be very difficult and confusing. I would also like to see it "fully" stickered like Tony's Suggestion. Darren Grewe wrote: I have no idea on how this moves. clauswe wrote: I built it as an 2x2x2 mod.

Spectacular! Wenicker implements Wenninger. clauswe wrote: Is was extrem difficult to design. Because every axis or cut destroy the patterns of the shape I built it as an 2x2x2 mod. Pattern of the shape? What do you mean? If you wanted a non-shape-changing puzzle you could have used a skewb as core.

Thank you very much for all your positive response.
Bmenrigh: I don't use any mathematical programm. There are a lot of web sides with all mesurements you need to design the solids. Very helpful are the books a Wenninger. The author explain very detailed how you can build paper models. I designed the polyhedras with Autocad.
Andreas: Every cut splitted the face in more small pieces. This destroyed the look and feel of the shapes.

Side note: I actualy tried to make the origami version pictured there. I folded all 900 modules then it collapsed.
Non-side note: That's pretty cool, and I like the spikes. I also think that twisty puzzles are the best way to learn about geometry-if I played with your puzzle, for example, I would better understand the geometry of the Great dirhombicosidodecahedron

Claus, that is an awesome puzzle! I'm really impressed that you have Wenninger's book! We definitely need more stellated puzzles (and maybe special puzzling safety goggles and gloves )! For exploring stellated polyhedra, I like the software GreatStella.

I haven't posted for a long time, but I'll say this this caught my eye enough to force me to post something.
I absolutely adore uniform, stellated puzzles. This is the kind of aesthetic beauty that keeps me interested in puzzles. Thank you for bringing this to life.
