Hey puzzlers,

I'm currently volunteering in Cusco, Peru, but I was able to finish dyeing, assembling, and stickering my newest puzzle at the host family's house. I had to buy a new stainless steel pot (35 nuevo soles) and a pair of gloves (3 nuevo soles), but it was worth it!

I'm proud to present:

Fang-10 is an edge-turning pentagonal dipyramid, though the equatorial edges are not turnable. It jumbles in fun ways, and I added in a level of unbandaging to make it more interesting. The shape-changing in this puzzle is simply awesome. I haven't done a scramble yet, since I don't want to take it apart while I am abroad. When I scramble it, I will post some more pictures.

There is a good chance I will sell this puzzle on Shapeways, though not until around September, since I have a lot going on this July and August. (traveling, moving to Chicago, starting graduate school)

In the meantime, here are more pictures. (I messed up one of the red stickers, and one of the light green stickers was missing. I will fix these when I get back home.)

I would have assumed he meant the cost for the pot and gloves, but 38 nuevo soles is $14.42...

Dave

P.S. Nice work!

Awesome, it's great that you found time to do a design. This reminds me very much of David Pitcher's Unbandaged Jumble Trap.

I do hope you decide to sell it on Shapeways :D

This is an excellent puzzle.

Also, I didn't know what this "35 nuevo soles" means, even though I had an idea to look it up. At the same time this reminded me of an old animation from my childhood, which can be seen here with English subtitles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEHyrNX4IR8 I hope I am not severely off-topic and this will bring a little amusement in this topic. 8-)

So, you just can't be away from your puzzles, eh? Is this the first twisty puzzle to be made in Peru? Nice design BTW, I can't wait to see it scrambled and a video.

Very cool puzzle, and very dangerous looking too!

I'm not quite sure, but it seems that the shape has been elongated from the pentagonal dipyramid used for Fracture-10 and Fractured Madness. Is this the case, and if so was the elongation required to make the edge-turning work?

Looking forward to seeing the video, and great work (as always)!

Dave

Before I recognized the logo I thought this puzzle was made by David Pitcher. You two seems to like this shape, don't you?

BTW: cool concept.

It is rather sharp, isn't it?

That's right. I had to elongate it to make the jumbling work. I also did some parabolic surfacing near the tips, so that I could make the cut deeper without adding a lot of extra parts.

Yeah, it's proved to turn out some awesome-looking puzzles with interestingly varied properties.

Probably. I was toying with the idea of writing "Hecho en PerĂº" on one of the stickers.
