Hello Burgo, hello all other, my first solves with Master Skewb was solve Skewb and then edges and then center-x pieces. This solution ist not elegant. Many commutators, many memorize, many mistakes, many hours. The second idea was , solve it like Rex-Cube !!!!! Yeah , very nice. But there I, had no idea to permute and orient the corners. Permute corners (RL'R'L)x 3 Ok , thanks Burgo Burgo, you found and write : Burgo wrote: 7. Orientate 2 corners with (RL’ R’L)X2 U’ (L’R LR’)X2 U Whats "U" ? In the postings before I read Code: B L R F l r f
There is no "U" Or l,r are the adjacent midle-layer ? Wat is "U" ? Cheers, Andrea

Hi Andrea, If you hold the Skewb or Master Skewb as a diamond shape with a tip pointing up and a tip pointing down, you get a U layer with 3 corners on it. If you point one of those corners directly at you, you get R and L turns `around the 2 closest corners to you on the bottom layer`- they intersect at the corner that points toward you on the U layer. I hope that makes sense. If not there is an example of the sequence being performed in my Skewb Cube and Skewb Diamond tutorial. Cheers, Burgo.

Hi Burgo, thanks for the answer. Burgo wrote: If you hold the Skewb or Master Skewb as a diamond shape with a tip pointing up and a tip pointing down Ok, I tried this. It works. A Master Skewb is a Rex-Cube without corners. So I solved it als Rex-Cube. ( Edges first with momorize the color scheme). This is fast and easy. Now the corners are permuted and I am not able to permute this with your sequence : Burgo wrote: 6. Place final corners with (RL'R'L)X3 only ( this permutes 2 pairs on a tetrahedron, but the corner of each tetrahedron can't leave his orbit) Is it possible that not all configurations are solveabe with this sequence ? Cheers, Andrea

Corner 1 must go to corner 2 and corner 2 must go to corner 3. Corner 3 must go to place from corner 1. 3 cycle 1 -> 2 -> 3 ->1 And 4 -> 5 -> 6-> 4

Quote: There is an important extra short step though. After you have solved the edges like a Dino Skewb, check the corners. With each group of 4 non-adjacent corners, there are three possible situations: all in their correct positions; need a double swap; 1 correct and 3 need cycling. Only the last situation is a problem. Obviously, you are having this problem. You'll find all the necessary algos there. I have to admit that I have never had a detailed look at Burgo's method. Probably, he avoids somehow the need of a 3-cycle of corners. Andrea wrote: ...A Master Skewb is a Rex-Cube without corners. So I solved it als Rex-Cube. I guess, you should phrase it the other way around: A Rex Cube is a Master Skewb without corners (Or a Master Skewb is similar to a Rex Cube WITH corners.) I prefer to view it as a Dino Cube when solving the edges in the first step.

Hi Andrea, Your situation is the one that I tried to represent on Page 1, Sat, May 14, 10:19pm, have a look at the photo and post there (NB I don't know if the date is the same for everyone, so I put the photo here too). The short story is you have to `fix` the corners (it's actually an edge problem when you understand it) early in the solve: 1. Complete Dino Solve [check colour scheme (same as for 4x4x4 solve) eg Red, White, Blue]*Thanks Konrad*. 2. place corners (RL'R'L)X3 to check for edge parity (pyraminx cycle if necessary)3. Solve Rex Cube: Build rows of 3 centres with setup moves, and exchange to store with RL'R'L. Flip rows with (RL'R'L) L (DR'D'R), or another method that doesn't alter edges. 4. Place final corners with (RL'R'L)X3 only 5. Orientate 2 corners with (RL’ R’L)X2 U’ (L’R LR’)X2 U Quote: You can solve the edges in step 2 with the pryaminx algs: Clockwise: R’ U’ R U’ R’ U’ R / Anticlockwise: R’ U R U R’ U R (holding the cube as a diamond with the F corner in my pictures becoming U). You can also use Julian’s algs above, they are the same thing. (You can now go ahead and solve the cube as normal and only receive the corner misalignment that can be fixed with (RL’ R’L)X3 at the end). I think if you read through that post and fit it in at step 2 you will understand. Konrad is correct, you have just missed a critical step. Cheers, Burgo. PS I believe this will be the main problem people will encounter with this puzzle.

Hello Burgo, hello Konrad, Konrad wrote: I guess, you should phrase it the other way around: A Rex Cube is a Master Skewb without corners (Or a Master Skewb is similar to a Rex Cube WITH corners.) Yes. Excuse my mistake. Konrad wrote: Andrea, please, have a look at Julian's post from January 10th on page 1 of this thread. Ok, I had read it one more time. A dino-cube Rex-Cube without center-pieces. So I don't read this posting not enough. Burgo wrote: The short story is you have to `fix` the corners early in the solve: Do you talk about your picture from "Sun May 15, 2011 4:19 am" ? I think, we solve the rex-Cube in the same way ( Rex-Cube thread) That is the right tip. I solved the Master-Skewb now with correcting the corners in early state. This works fine. But i fear that this was a lucky solve. The orientation of the corners is no problem. This method is a quasi reduction method ? I love it. (lol -> crazy cubes) Burgo wrote: You can solve the edges in step 2 with the pryaminx algs: Clockwise: R’ U’ R U’ R’ U’ R / Anticlockwise: R’ U R U R’ U R the same as from Julian wrote: If you need to twist F clockwise to fix the corners, do: F L' F L F L' F L ??? The question : Does the solving of Rex Cube not destroy the corner-relation in each case ?

No, that's impossible. But you can cycle 3 of them (2 of one color and 1 of another) to get the effect you need.
