I'm looking for a free CADD-like program if one exists. I will settle for a free trial of one if I need to. Please help?

I started out with Alibre's trial. It's parametric like Solidworks; maybe not as good for puzzles, but good enough. I originally designed my Quirky Cube with it.
I recall having problems with exporting to an STL or something, in which case I used Rhino CAD.

I use and recommend FreeCAD.

FreeCad is good, but remember it is a work in progress. Good luck.

I was just about to ask this question. Although I do have freecad, I have no idea how to use it. Does anyone have a good tutorial for it?

You should also explore AutoDesk 123D.
