So I've been perusing ebay and such lately and have been looking for megaminxes, but I'm looking for the old version, the one made of solid plastic and not this hollow "new" version. The ones I've tried to buy have the old ones pictured but they instead send the new ones, which is crap.

So anyone know where I can find the originals? Tiled or stickered doesn't matter, just as long as it's the original puzzle itself.

I wouldn't call the PVC minx "old". It is a pretty direct copy of the Meffert's Megaminx design, and should be available on eBay or normal puzzle sites. It is solid, I made my Kilominxes out of them.

Take a look at this thread. You will find the Supernova is not solid (a very nice hollow design), and the Meffert's and Tomy Megaminx are the "older" solid version you describe.

Yes, I realize the one I'm looking for is not the oldest megaminx out there. But unfortunately it looks like everyone that used to sell the PVC Megaminxes (The white one at the bottom of your write up, I believe) now sells a "new improved" version that they either call "II" or "Generation II" or whatever. However, the pictures on the listings themselves are of the old versions, and they're sending out the new version instead.

The new version is hollow, made of cheaper plastic, and lacks that grooved "foot" on the inside of the mechanism. What's interesting is that I tried substituting pieces from each puzzle and they both fit exactly.

The only reason I'm looking for the solid minx is for modding purposes. The solid plastic makes things much easier instead of having to waste other materials to fill/cap, and I just think the plastic itself is sturdier.

I still have one of the old megaminxs. The bad news is that the stickers were getting loose so I repainted it a couple weeks ago with fingernail polish:

Let me check with my source for the PVC Minxes I used as a base for my Kilominx, perhaps he still has some of the older ones around.

I have confirmed 9spuzzles has what you want in stock, here. Unfortunately for a builder those available are already stickered, but it isn't too difficult to remove them (they come off easily with no mess left).

Thanks for your help. Fortunately there were some members here that offered to sell their own. But I'll keep 9spuzzles in mind if I ever need others.
