Not sure whether to post this here or in non-twisty.......

So I made a Lego Zauberkreuz here but I was never satisfied with its movement....even after finding an original one I wanted to go back and try again - here are the results:

I kept the Lego pieces but used some plastic sheeting for the base and some acrylic to keep the pieces lined up - this works very well and really improves movement - I also rounded the corners of the Lego pieces and I can say I am very happy with the movement of this puzzle - it's still not quite as good as the original but for a fraction of the price these fetch nowadays I think it's quite an easy mod for anyone that would like to get started - and a great puzzle to boot!

I may go back and redo the acrylic covers as you can see that even the slightest bit of glue on the acrylic really shows up after a while - they didn't look too bad at the start but dust really seems to gather after a while!

As you can see it's a bit bigger - this is due to the size of the Lego pieces.
Which leads me to my question - does anyone know where I can get acrylic cut to specific (small) measurements like these (like shapeways for printing I guess) and would it be (prohibitively) expensive?

Hmmm... A bunch of precision cut small acrylic triangles for a gapless sliding tile puzzle?
I think I might have heard of someone doing something like that.

I am sure the price would be reasonable for parts, perhaps a bit more expensive for a fully built product.

How could I forget?
To be honest I didn't want to be bothering you with every crazy idea I have (again!) and was wondering if there is a shapeways equivalent for ordering acrylic?
I've tried a couple of other designs but the accuracy needed for them far surpasses my skills as can be seen with this botched attempt:

It would be nice if there was somewhere I could order my whims without feeling like I was a burden - but if not.....prepare yourself!!

Check out www.ponoko.com, they're like the Shapeways for laser cutting. They also offer 3D printing but that is considerably more expensive than Shapeways'.
You should also check if you live near a FabLab or techshop. I happen to live near protospace and they have a laser cutter you can use for free on Tuesday afternoons and Thursdays. You can either bring your own material, use other people's scraps for free or buy some material off them.
