Wow, I'm surprised. I honestly thought Tom would be the first to make these puzzle. Look good though!

Interesting. Sad it is not fully porportional, like th 3x4x5

Is there a mechanical need for the disproportion? (If there's a way to make it proportional it's getting modded). Let's hope they at least provide rectangular stickers if it needs to be disproportional. I also wonder if they have considered blocked turns (it might not be too late to do something)?

I wonder why they left out the 456?
But NICE, I can't wait :D .
Cheers,
Burgo.

Does Anyone else see that the Core is an MF8 ledgend with V-mech centers attached?

I wonder if the disproportionate cubies somehow add stability. It looks like it may be nothing more than a V-mechanism with disproportionate cut depths on different axes. :scrambled:

We have to remember that this is a puzzle with seven layers in one direction and presumably is based somewhat, maybe loosely, on the V-Cube mechanism, so of course it will either have to be pillowed or out of proportion.

Looks great though and to have this mass produced would be incredible!

Not entirely, the 5x5x7 is completely proportional.

I meant that the two non-proportional layers can either be as they are or pillowed.

It actually asks for a type of Wall Cube sticker Mod :) .

So a 3x3x17 could also be built proportional, in theory, but a proportional 3x17x17 definitely would not work at all. A 5x5x7 can easily be any of several extended 5x5x5 cube mechanisms, which are proven to be proportional. 7x7x7 cannot be made proportional at all, but 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 can be.

Proportional 1x2x3, 2x3x4, 3x4x5, and 4x5x6 cubes have been made. 5x6x7 may not be possible. This is likely based on V6 cuts, but with the 5 and 7 layers in between the depths of the 6 cuts. If the core is spherical, which it is due to the V-mech, then the cube could probably be modded to cubic proportions by filing down the 7 layers. The ultra-skinny 7 layer corners do not fall off the cube because they are fused on one side to the 5 layer parts. That, and the fact that the core is a sphere, necessitate the extended thickness of the outer 5 slices. Hope this helps explain to visualize this puzzle.

There is no way a 5x6x7 can be made proportional. If you draw the cross-sections (5x6 face, 5x7 face and 6x7 face), you will see that on none of the faces the circle reaches the corner piece. On the 5x6 face it appears to be touching but closer inspection reveals it's not.

So some of the parts appear to be from produced puzzles. What are the other parts? Printed? Cast? Hand modification? Injection molded? I'm curious if this is close to being produced or someone's custom.

It seems to me it's entirely 3D printed. You can clearly see the printing lines on the center parts in the last picture, and the first picture also shows the distinctive texture (and the discoloration that is so common with WSF).

I saw the smaller one that he made, and he used a ball core that is from the legend. The rest is 3D printed. I'm guessing this is exactly the same because the core photo looks the same as the smaller one he made .

Bumping this because I don't feel like making a new topic, but does anyone have any news on this or the 2x3x4?

Why would we have news ? they were custom puzzles, not to be mass produced.
