I see international postage rates for the lots you posted - though rather expensive.

Nowadays, it's extremely important to offer worldwide postage options, especially for puzzles! Bidders that fight over puzzles are too scattered around the world, and limiting bidders means you've eliminated the competition!

Ahhh yes, sorry - i forgot about that. They would post to the UK, Germany, Japan and a couple of other countries....but not Ireland (Hello?? we speak English!!!) but the worst thing was they had their ebay account set up to refuse questions so i couldn't even ask if they would post to Ireland - i had attempted to buy it on the chance that postage would be the same to Ireland but the system wouldn't let me complete the purchase as Ireland wasn't a country specifically mentioned in their postage

I think this is the correct thread to post this as apparently 3 of these have sold and the seller has 90 more if anyone wants one

A rubiks 360 for £152.90 - but it's ok as shipping is free!!

Who on earth would have bought 3 of these? Edit: it seems the buy it now price has been revised so presumably when the three sold it was for a much cheaper price.

I just won all these puzzles for £46.57. A few jems in there too. Most looking forward to getting my hands on the Magic Octahedron and Original Rhombic Dodecahedron. Can anyone identify which Magic Octahedron it is? I can't really tell.

I saw this but it went well over my limit that I had decided.
The magic octahedron was the hidden gem, I was wondering if anyone else saw it, but the obviously did.

Congrats Ryan on an awesome haul.

:!: What the heck?
Who would buy one for that price? Also on ebay it says "This listing was ended by the seller because the item is no longer available" - so even though they had over 90 available as soon as they sold one they ended the listing? (Probably off on holiday with the profit  ) But don't worry if you are looking for one as on the same page there is another seller who has more of them for exactly the same ridiculous price!
Have we stumbled on some money laundering operation or something here as how can two sellers both charge this exact same crazy price???

Strange enough, I have got this answer
Quote:
Hello:
Sometimes you see the item set a high price unnormally because the item is out of stock. we raising the price to aviod the buyer purchase it. We will change back the price to normal when we have the item in stock.
Please keep watching our listing.

Regards
Sharon
Nice strategy, isn't it

Very strange strategy, why not just remove the listing if the item is not in stock?
I presume in has something to do with (fe)ebays fees.

Getting this thread back to more usual topics:

A sonic canundrum sliding puzzle can in original packaging (it looks like it may be sealed too) for $155.39 - i did not win this, i was just watching it!

Meffert's 12 Colour Dogic in mint condition, with a free original black helicopter cube for £130 + £5 p+p

Deluxe Rubik's Cube logo on red side, open but with original box and label for $29.07 + $11 p+p

Tomy Great Gears BIN for $19.95 + $11.10 p+p

A Tomy Megaminx in mint unplayed with condition BIN for $4.49 including postage to the US - Thank you to my American friend that bought this and posted it with other puzzles to me :) - maybe we need a greatest bargain ever thread??

A collection including an orb-it, rubik's world, boxed magic, missing link and others, oh yeah, and a Columbus Egg with stand for $76.02 p+p was $38.07 which considering all the other puzzles was pretty fair

Congratulations. After seeing the prohibitive shipping fee I decided just to leave it in the watch list.

Not every okki goes for that much, ebay.de is always a place to find bargins, but not for non-Euro residents like me  . Puzzles listed in different catalogue can have a big difference in price. I got outbid in a spectra months ago which went for more than 70 dollars but I picked another with the BIN of 6 dollars just a week ago.

The shipping costs was already $20 to me, and I live in the same country!

Congrats on the Columbus' Egg! I thought that this one was going to be an easy win for me, but there were a lot more serious bids than I had expected.

A spectacular lot of 52 puzzles, including Columbus' Egg, Octahedron, Tsukuda's Square, Smart Alex, and Rotary Circle for $565.23.

I thought that I had a chance at this but it looks like puzzle collectors have much deeper pockets than I anticipated - blowing me out of the water on this one! Too bad, as I would have really liked to add this lot to my collection. Congrats to the lucky buyer on this one!

Sigh, me too. It truly was a spectacular lot and considering all the great puzzles was a pretty fair price (although the shipping to me would have added $77.50 to the final price.

Unfortunately it was more than i could spend on puzzles in one go too - if only the seller had given me 6 months or a years notice before listing it i could have saved up

Congrats to the buyer!

FA-78-1 Gundam 2x2x2 Head for $450.

RX-78 Gundam 2x2x2 Head also for $450. I don't ever recall seeing either of them before.

A Rubik's Deluxe with label on the yellow side for $177.50! http://www.ebay.com/itm/290676886548?ss ... 1438.l2649

Most of the time I see these with the gold painted logo on the red side selling for half of this and was surprised to see how high this went.

I was surprised by that too.

Until recently there has been an ebay seller in the US who must have come by some (new) old stock of deluxe edition rubik's cubes. Red & yellow logo versions available. 100% genuine. I bought two and they are mint - even the cases/seal/stickers are complete & unmarked. At first these were selling for big money, I think one even sold for around $250, but most were going for like $100 to $150. As demand dropped off, prices fell to around $60 to $70.

This seller must now have sold through and I wonder if lack of supply has pushed the price right back up again?

Nice cubes although I wouldn't pay $177 for an opened one.

First one I paid $139 - red version logo, and the second (about 6 months later) $63.50 - yellow version logo

I was more surprised to see how high this seller's Orb-it puzzle went for ....$71, these usually go for about $20 unless they are boxed!

An "Ultra Rare Rubik's Babilon Variation" for $315 + $15 shipping (it's like the space massager but with three rows over the top and bottom of the puzzle - looks like maybe only 4 colours for the balls?)
Has anyone ever seen one like this before? or know what the "real" name is? I expected this to sell for a high price but I'm afraid my bid didn't even show up

I believe some of those ridiculously high, winning bids do not necessarily end up paying for the item. Some ebayers just put in a high bid and refused to pay after winning it. This artificially drives the face value of an item.

The orb is said to be a limited golden edition. To be honest, I have never heard of any kinda official information about this version.

several puzzles including a logi-vip for mere 6 euros,I hate non-paypal accepted sellers  .
9 Tiled pyraminx crystal sold by Aleh with 30 bucks each. They were sold immediately and I was too late to catch one.
A magic Jack for 10 bucks BIN.
A spectacular lot including a sealed logi-vip for 251 euros. Is the winner a forum member here?

I am very sceptical about the so-called gold edition of The Orb. If you look at the picture in the auction, the "gold" colour is uneven. It has the appearence of one my own Orb puzzles that I had stored in a box with a stack of Archie comic digests from the 1980s. I had discovered that the side of the Orb facing the cheap newsprint of the digests had aquired an interesting gold discolouration, while the side facing away had not.

All i know is i tried very hard to win it but ultimately not hard enough!

There are two threads that give a little info on it here on twistypuzzles....here and here and there is also an image in the Slocum Puzzle collection here but that's all i know about it - maybe some of the people mentioned in the threads know more!

What is with all the Golden Cube craziness going on now? I realize they're not in production anymore but it's only been 3 years not like 10 or 15 years out of print. It's not like they only made 20 of each color or something. The prices have been ridiculously high on ebay. $455 for a silver Golden recently. Collectors with money to throw around that obviously want one at all costs have been bidding these up to unreasonable prices. Really nice puzzles but still just skewb mods after all. They need to make another run of these(at least the black ones) and stop the insanity.

Adding to my collection of obscure Rubik's puzzles :)

Rubik's Royal
Rubik's Tangle (cardboard set 1)
Rubik's Tangle (double sided plastic)
Rubik's Bricks
Rubik's Rings
Rubik's Double Tangram

None of these are go for high prices, but many of them are rare these days.

And when the buyer is member of the forum:
Please contact me. I need images.

Je suis très heureux de posséder ce puzzle.
Je peux dire que le Diognes est facile à résoudre. Il m'a fallu moins de 20 minutes pour le remettre en ordre.
Quand j'aurrai un peu de temps devant moi je ferai quelques photos.

It would help if you provided a link to the auction that you had won for $14. 8-)

Just got this puzzle - I hadn't seen it anywhere before, it's called a "Heartache" manufactured in 1971

Very interesting, is there any manufacturer information? How about a picture of the back?

It's produced by Konhner Bros., the makers of Hi-Q. This puzzle actually belongs to a series of the puzzles which also include at least toothache and belly-ache. Pictures of the other two can be found at Rob's puzzle page here and here.

Chuchudengren's info is correct - it's possible I have seen it before on Rob's site but forgot about it - there are too many puzzles there to keep track of properly!!
Here's a picture of the back: (sorry for the poor phone picture, my camera appears to be lost)

Just FYI, Heartache was part of the "ache" series that included Heartache, Toothache, and Belly Ache.

Toothache was a maze puzzle with a ring that could travel a fixed distance between holes (like Hanayama's Cast plate). The goal was to find the shortest path between the hole at the lower-right and the hole at upper-left. But the start and finish weren't marked on the puzzle, so the goal isn't obvious if you find one without its packaging. (Often, sellers don't know what the goal is...or they just make something up.)
