I'm just really curious as to why it hasn't. It is a highly demanded item from collectors and general cubers, so the producer would definitely gain a profit on it. Timur has made a working shapeways version so we all know the mechanism is possible. I want to know what you guys think about this.

If the puzzle is INCREDIBLY popular like the curvy copter, they will build moulds and make them, but I believe there has not been enough "Buzz" for it to come out in the next 3-6 months. But, on the other hand, since Mefferts has mass produced pyraminx and prof. pyraminx, I will not be surprised if it arrives late 2012 or early 2013 Thanks Letti

As I know many demands not equal to many people will buy it.
I remember sometimes before I saw a Master pyraminx in Meffert's webshop front page. But I don't know if Meffert has a plan to do it or not. Anyway I hope Meffert do it, as it is a pyraminx.

I'm pretty certain that Meffert will be releasing one. All that is required is patience.

Then I hope someone else makes a non-pillowed one as they will get my money instead of Mefferts (like what happened with the mastermorphix). This puzzle does not need to be pillowed.

I bet it will be released soon. Pillowed or non-pillowed; it doesn't matter to me. I just want a puzzle that functions well. (It seems that most of the recent massproduced puzzles haven't functioned well. )

This is what the master pyraminx is going to look like. I personally don't really like the look of it. Attachment:

I like the look of that pillowed Master Pyraminx. Do you mind if I ask where you found that picture?
For those who don't want this pillowed version, I recommend ordering from Timur. It will cost more, but it's an incredibly well made puzzle. It's pretty small in size, but I like it better than the bigger versions, and it functions and turns great!

I bet that the picture was one from the USB drives that were given away with the pyraminxs and the treasure chests. I'm not really sure though.

That photo has also been on his webpage since Christmas of 2010.....
Nothing new there. As for the pillowing, Well, he likes it and has a pretty darned good reason to pillow everything he's been putting out of late-well, over the past 2 years I guess.
And before anyone asks about missing orders or reasons or anything else, let me just say Uwe is hibernating in Thailand right now. I sure wish I were, it's 12C out there today!

Though, the pillowed doesn't look too bad, and it matches with all the other higher order Pyraminx's.

I was among those people who first noted the existence of the master pyraminx. Somebody please educate me as to why it has to be pillowed. Heck, Shim's flat-sided master Pyraminx would have made a fantastic product rather than the pillowed craptastic mock up in the prototype photo. I hope to goodness the final product is not that ugly. The hybrid Skewb/Pyraminx mechanism would be wonderful for a flat-faced Master Pyraminx. I own a Shapeways model and do not regret buying it. Beautiful: Ugly:

The real Meffert's Master Pyraminx is going to be something between these two - pillowed, but not that much like a Releaux tetrahedron on Adam's picture. Actually it will exactly match the size and shape of Professor Pyraminx and Pillow Pyraminx.

I suspect that it may be a cost thing. A pillowed one is smaller and uses less plastic.

I originally thought the pillow design was created for a smoother turning puzzle, but if you watch the beginning of this video, Uwe says it's more for comfort, since it fits the shape of your hand. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2TAyVc_VHs

The original intent of using the Releaux Tetrahedron as the base shape for the Master Pyraminx was to provide the largest space for an internal mechanism possible. The pillowed design also allows for stabilizing the edge pieces so they don't overhang.
The feel of the puzzle was an additional benefit of the shape. It feels nice in the hand because it is easy to hold and turn the major cuts of the puzzle. The disadvantage of the Releaux Master Pyraminx is that the trivial tips are very "flat", and that makes them difficult to turn. Overall I really like the Releaux shape, but for this corner turning puzzle, the pllowed version makes a better puzzle.
