I hope this is the right forum; it didn't seem to fit in anywhere else. Is it possible to make a mosaic cube where a face can "pull out", like as in a gear shift? Thanks Letti See picture:

I'm sure it's probably possible.
They're both Oskar designs (I believe?), so I wouldn't be too surprised if he's already conceptualised it.
The way I'm picturing it, I think it would be like a higher order Gear cube extreme.

Hi Letti, I like your idea from the mechanical point of view. This is why I suggested to post it on the Twisty Puzzles Forum. However, wouldn't this puzzle be functionally equivalent to a regular Rubik's Cube? After all, there are exactly 6 faces that turn. Or did I misunderstand your idea? Oskar

The idea is that the cube would turn like a mosaic cube, as well as a 3x3. Thanks Letti

Thanks Letti This has been done with the Mosaic Cube's younger brother Redi Cube and 3x3x3, but that version adds new cuts and it's certainly not a Mosaic Cube + 3x3x3. ( Link) Still, that's a neat idea, since the Mosaic Cube already has cuts that look like they shouldn't work

That is what I mean. If it's tight, they won't.

Hello Letti, I like your puzzle idea. Visualizing your design, I see that the 3x3 version will not be functional. Although I can see a 2x2 version to be functional. I believe the way to hand make it is to first fully dissassemble the mosaic cube and put the corners on a small sphered 2x2. Cut the 4 diamond pieces per face to have it look like a 2x2. After the diamond pieces are cut they may need a modification to lock into the puzzle. I hope you can visualize what I am visualizing for this awesome puzzle.
