Stardust4ever is right. It is actually less turns to do the checkerboard pattern then the 6-spots. What do you think the likelihood of this puzzle ever being mass produced?

Mass produce a puzzle that looks too much like a Rubik's cube? Hmmm? What do you think? Not very likely. :lol:

I think Uwe catches enough complaint from people on here (via me mind, and only then when I feel like it's something worth passing on. He doesn't read the forum and I have too much else to worry about.)

I'm confused. Why would you call the Treasure Chest NOT mass-produced.
The contrary of mass-produced is either handmade or 3D printed.
This puzzle is neither one or the other.

I think he means for sale in shops like the pyraminx and gear cubes. Uwe has told me it will only be sold through the jade club. But one never knows. Stranger things have happened.

Unless you are counting in quarter turns metric, which I mentioned earlier.

The Treasure chest is made from injection-molded plastic. There's probably well more than 100 puzzles produced so far, so I think that qualifies it as a mass-production puzzle, even if only in limited quantities. I don't think Meffert has to worry about complaints from Seven Towns. The cube is visually different from a Rubik's Cube and uses a completely different mechanism compared to the Japanese Rubik's Bank. Think about how the bank only opens at the center whereas the Treasure chest pops off an entire layer. The treasure Chest is also far superior to the Rubik's coin bank in every way. :solved:

I agree with everything you have said, especially with your last sentence.

People who really want this puzzle can become Jade members. It should not be a problem for TP members to get an invitation.

Just recieved mine. It is a nice looking puzzle. However, I removed the tiles and replaced them with standard stickers, but now you need to do a chessboard pattern before opening the green side.
It turns very smoothly after slight lubricating.

Do you mind if I ask as to how you removed the tiles? I'm afraid to damage the puzzle in some way, I was under the assumption that they were really on there.

The tiles are so beautiful, I wouldn't dream of removing them. However, I did mod the puzzle so that it opens in the chessboard position. :mrgreen:

There is no damage on all ports on four different computers where I used the first stick.

Sorry, I did not read your message until now.
No, that was really simple, just did it with my finger nails^^the tiles are very flexible and not glued on too tightly.
