You have to create a reputation based on creativity and quality. That is why the puzzles by Tony, Katsuhiko, Anthony and Hidetoshi are highly valued. They are both intersting and also very well made. Incredibly smooth.

For the record, I would like to say that the puzzles that I bought from you Jin are also very well well made. In my book, your puzzles are well worth it.

The puzzles were auctioned by mariuszd73. To be honest, I don't know if any other of his puzzles are equally poorly made. I also did not pay an exorbitant price for them, otherwise I would have returned them. You can see from the following picture that the pieces of the Dodecahedron are misaligned. The puzzle is also stiff and some of the rotations are hard to make.

My only point here is that this puzzle is not in the same class, and therefore it is not worth as much as a puzzle made by the other designers mentioned.

This is the same cube that sold last time that didn't meet the reserve. Different seller in the same state though. Too bad it didn't have the case and the 2 certificates that originally came with it. I tracked one of these down a few years ago and the seller wanted $3000 for it. I told him good luck but I am not paying that much.

The reason? The seller blocked me, only because I'm from Germany. Hello-o... I can of course always find someone inside USA to forward an item to me. So no reason to block me, at least in my opinion. And the system told me right *after I had confirmed my bid*, great. Had I seen the block earlier I could've at least tried to do something against it. Could I have known from the auction page? I don't see any warning, and I usually don't have problems bidding in other countries. The system told me the seller explicitly forbid me to bid because I'm not registered in a country where he sends to. EDIT: I told ebay about this, hopefully they'll do something about it. Somehow I doubt it, though. They haven't been very helpful in the past.

Mine cost me 75 GBP + 25 GBP in custom taxes when it got here! I was well shocked! 100 GBP altogether! I've got blue and white one with it's box and Japanese instructions.

sometimes the bid can go that high because sometimes people who want something really bad put a crazy maximum bid. (let's say maximum bid of $500 and a current bid of $1) So let's say that crazy bidder runs into someone that's just like him, wanting the item so bad, he'll put a high bid automatically making his maximum bid. (so let's say he puts $1000. so the bid is right now at $501 or whatever and the maximum bid is $1000. big mistake lol

I have received my "Rubik SAJT" today.

It is the original "Rubik's Cheese"... still sealed.

Thanks to Philip K. for his post in TwistyPuzzles forum... otherwise, I wouldn't dare to place a high bid on it... in fact, my bid was twice higher than the final price. Luckily, most of the people (including Dodd) are on vacation. I got it cheap -- half the price I am willing to pay for.

p.s. The one sold by Hendrik Haak (no packaging) was 475 EURO ~ which is close to US$600!!!

Well... I still don't have a full time job and right now I am finishing my second postgraduate degree...! (both theoretical)

So I do not possess much cash right now, although the future looks bright!

One strange thing about me is that (because of my background) I am not interested in all rare puzzles, but only those which are "mathematically different".

For example, the group generated by Rubik's cheese is a normal subgroup of the group generated by Rubik's UFO.
And it is well known that Rubik's cheese is a very rare and sought puzzle. But for me having the UFO is good enough, as long as I can "play" with that particular mathematical group!

Jaap's web site has been really helpful to me at this point as it categorises puzzles via a mathematical way!

In the future I plan to place online some pics of my collection. You will notice that I have very few "3x3x3 mechanism style" cubes for the same reason as above!

So in other words, if I see any rare puzzle that is also "mathematically different" compared to the ones in my collection, expect me to bid very passionately! :wink:

Dodd, congrats! Actually more for outbidding Kar than for winning that cube

. I recently saw something I was somewhat interested in and it only had one bid so it was still low but the bid came from Kar so I didn't bother bidding...
