Gear Maze 2S is the third of the Gear Mazes. Gear Maze 2x2 and Gear Maze 3x3 are also posted the Non-Twisty Puzzles Forum.

Gear Maze 2S is a two-sided gear maze. It has four gears, each of which has a simple maze at both sides. The 17-teeth gears mesh with each other and they are driven by the big 45-teeth gear around them. A small ball (or actually, two small balls glued together) runs through the maze, driven by gravity and inertia. The object is to get the ball from the small circular hole to the triangular hole.

The maze is quite confusing. The ball always jumps to holes at the other side. Also some through paths are actually dead ends, whereas some dead ends are actually through paths or even junctions. The topology of the maze has a lot of interconnected loops and meshes to add to the confusion.

Sorry, no. Gear Maze 2S has already been for sale for several years.

Nice! Why the crescent part on the side to turn an outer cog, rather than give side acces to one smaller cog as in the 2x2 version? Is it just to get enough torque/leverage?

Presumably something to hold onto. You wouldn't have an easy grip holding the bottom side if all the parts are turning.

See quite some interesting stuff here regarding mazes. I was already surprised to find (and buy) a laser-cut 'wheel maze' in Monschau 2 weeks ago (there's a puzzle shop there).

But now I find there's much more laser cut maze puzzle creation done.

Also find the LaserExact store interesting for my overview page (http://www.doolhoven.startpagina.nl), so added it there.

Was even surprised that the shop is Dutch....
Is it the Dutch that live in a maze.....?
