Hey everyone, I know I haven't made a puzzle in a long time, but here's the Prisminx Crystal !! It is not a three layered 10-part cheese, because it only turns like a PC pent prism, which was pretty much what I was looking for Attachment:

Turning is very smooth, but if you try a reverse corner cut, since the puzzle is deep cut it won't work and you'll have to turn the other way to unlock it up. Logical. Attachment:

As for corner cutting, not reverse, it's pretty amazing! Attachment:

Small precision: like the cheese puzzle, since it's deep cut and only two dimensions of axes, due to the mechanism, if you push a flying edge (not attached to the core (which is a Pent Prism) it will be able to be pushed a bit up/down, but with normal turning, it only happens about once every 10 turns, and you can realign it very easily. VideoThe auction will start tomorrowEnjoy !! - Greg

Greg's been showing me this beast on Skype for a while now, and I'm still in awe of it. On the other hand, I still hate you, because you won't put it on Shapeways!

This puzzle looks amazing. I don't really know what else to say, except for the fact that I am making something similar. It has the pyraminx crystal cuts but it is only two layers. Nice work.

The great puzzle! It turns amazingly. Maybe one day it will be mass-produced (just dream).

It's too bad, but this puzzle would have little issue for mass production: 1) I wrote: if you push a flying edge (not attached to the core (which is a Pent Prism) it will be able to be pushed a bit up/down 2) It uses shells and the mech is a Pent Prism, and 4 shells is too much already to mass produce

Oh I forgot something very important in the topic, sorry for the double post but it's completely a different idea: Solving is EXTREMELY hard!!! I tried solving for 5 hours: 10 minutes for one edge out of 2 (all pieces attached to the Pent Prism) 2 hours to get close to solving 2 hours 50 minutes to try doing the last 3-cycled edges 10 minutes to unscrew diesassemble and reassemble the puzzle And everytime you try a RLR'L' type of alg or anything of the type, it destroys the rest of what you were solving! CRAZY!!!

I saw this yesterday on youtube. I have heard rumours about this puzzle for a while - but it's amazing to finally see it coming to life! Congratulations on another success Greg! It looks so good!
Would a one layer one be possible/ in proportions?

Sigurd wrote: Would a one layer one be possible/ in proportions? Of course, but you need space for a pent prism inside for the mech lol. What i could do is make it "spherical" with a puzzle ring in the middle, adding sq-1 addons, and then extend it so it looks EXCATLY the same, yet making it be a "mixup" puzzle (allowing 36° turns, not only 72°)

RubixFreakGreg wrote: I know yummyyummypbj designed a two layered one as he told me by PM and on the thread but who was the other? - Greg I designed one in may 2010, and another here by Clay n Eva Creations. I never printed my design, and I have no idea if C&E had their design printed either. Also a mixup version would be very awesome to see made! -Mark-
