I turned a QJ Pyraminx into a Junior Pyraminx :P

Yes, it's a trivial puzzle, but it is the number two part of a series...

However, unlike my 1x1x1 Cube, building it was not a trivial process. I will explain it further this weekend, but for now, it is past 3am, I've got class in the morning, and I need sleep...

Thanks for the kind words. I'll give an update on how I made it this weekend. I desperately need sleep right now...

Zzzzz...

This combined with a Pyramorphix would be an awesome little puzzle. :D Great job!

I just wanted to let everybody know that I have documented the build process, and the photostream is available on Flickr in it's entirety!

Fruits of my Labor (Two QJ Pyraminxes). The Order-3 Pyraminx at the bottom of the photo is an original Meffert's DIY. It's my favorite Pyraminx. I could never hack such a wonderful puzzle! :P

Nice space theme. I just wanted to own a puzzle that actually functions the way the Pyramorphix looks! :P

Go for it! I probably won't be making any more of these for a while. I was absolutely amazed that the pop-out triangles were as interchangeable as they were. On the first Pyraminx I butchered two of the octahedrons trying to bisect them at the corners. That would divide the face up into thirds, and the seams could be hidden under the tile. I didn't even realize the walls popped out, because the heat of the cutting wheel fused everything (after all, it is thermoplastic). Once I popped the pieces out and discovered how symmetrical the triangular holes were, everything worked out beautifully!

Yeah, that was one year before I came to the forums.

I have searched for the terms "Junior Pyraminx" to no avail. Mainly I made this puzzle as a completion of the Platonic face-turning puzzles: I now have onesies for tetrahedron, octahedron, cube, and dodecahedron. The dodecahedron was a D12 with leftover center tiles from the Holey Minx. My two 1x1x1 cubes are a black 24mm D6 and a crap tiny 3x3x3 with Cubesmith 2x2x2 tiles, and I now have several "onesie" tetrahedrons and octahedrons from my mod project.

I have junior and standard versions of the octahedron (Skewb Diamond, FTO), cube (Eastsheen 2x2x2, Rubik's 3x3x3), and dodecahedron (Flowerminx, Megaminx). And I have higher order versions of all those except the Octahedron. Hopefully pretty soon, I'll have Oskar's Icosaix as well. The Junior Pyraminx is the only Junior version of a face-turning puzzle that is completely trivial, so I sought out to make one.

It's a lot like how other forum members have made 1x1xN to fill in holes in their cuboid collection. I want to lay them out in a grid formation by order and geometry. :scrambled:
