I haven't really posted any new serious solves since the web at my house is down, but ill try now from school. I've been on a bit of a cubing binge this month, my aim is to get a sub 20 average (3x3) by the end of april (a year after i started), which i have come very close a number of times. That said, i did break a few single records in the past week. I got 15 seconds a few times, but my most proud accomplishment, is..... 14.58 single Sub-15 pb, and i haven't even averaged sub-20 yet.

I'm glad you're having an epic day SEBUVER. Congratulations on the new PBs!
As for my accomplishments, last week I figured out my 2x3x3. It's the third puzzle that I have solved without looking up a solution. (The other two are the megaminx and the pyraminx.)
So I know for the future, is this thread one that doesn't matter if it gets bumped?

I believe this thread is one that falls under the "bump-immunity" rule, for it is updated quite frequently, and would be pointless to create a new thread for the same reason.
On another note, I successfully hand-cut german vinyl fluorescent stickers for my helicopter cube! Getting the curved corners was difficult at first, but after some trial and error I have gotten better. It was the first time I've tried hand-cutting stickers for a puzzle, but I love the way it looks.

I just have a quick question: if you're trying to go for a pb record that's like sub-20 or 30, does it still count if there's a dnf?

Hey everyone, I just solved the crazy 4x4 II for the first time. I'm stoked. There's only one little bit I'm not confident with, which is positioning the 1st and 3rd layer inner centres, but I'll keep practising.

I know this is not a real accomplishment as such, but I've seen this on Mefferts for a while and I wanted to do it and was impressed by how it looks on the crazy 4x4 ii. Burgo.

If so, and it was an average of 5 with just one DNF, then this applies. I copied the following from this page on the WCA website under 9f9. "In 'Average of 5' rounds one DNF or DNS is counted as the worst result, with more than one DNF and/or DNS the average is DNF." Based on that, I'd say that the average counts.

Yay! I just solved all the levels of a puzzle given to me by Laurie Brokenshire when I met up with him and Pantazis. It's a very interesting puzzle, I'll post a picture tomorrow in the Non-Twisty Puzzles section. It looks like it would be a nice design to get a 3D printed copy of.

I finally solved the Curvy Copter II! Took me awhile to realize that I could adapt my Helicopter Cube algorithms a bit to do a pure cycle of three edge-center pieces. Great puzzle!

Very intermittent work, too, since it's passover.

I solved a 3x3x3 cube yesterday using my own method! I used an approach that I came up with for a similar puzzle. Knowing that other method probably made the 3x3 easier for me to solve. Still, I'm proud that I figured it out.

Average: 59.37 seconds.
Times: 58.22, 1:00.11, 59.80, 58.10, 1:09.39
I haven't done really any 4x4x4 solving in the last few months; I only started yesterday when I received a new 4x4x4.

I recently figured out my own methods for solving a 2x2x2 and a 4x4x4. I have now done that for six puzzles: megaminx, pyraminx, 2x3x3, 3x3x3, 2x2x2, and 4x4x4.

Yay! I just solved the Starminx II on GelatinBrain! Many thanks to bmenrigh, who has helped me with a few commutators and has been there for me whenever I needed him. The time was 3:56.22 hours (I wasn't doing it non-stop) and I solved it in 1478 moves.

Time for a bump.
3x3x3 average of 5 and 12 PB: 10.09 and 11.13 seconds.
Times: 11.13, 9.76, 12.11, 12.45, 9.88, 11.21, 8.91, 9.19, 11.59, 15.71, 12.78, 11.17
I am so annoyed with myself. I messed up with the 15.71 seconds solve, and had I got a decent time, I may have got a sub 10 average of five.

Yesterday evening, I did my first 3x3x3 blindfold solve (with a parity case) in about 15 min. I am really happy! I have used the 3-cycle method : - Orientation of corners and edges - Permutation of edges and corners (based on decomposition of cycles in 3-cycle + 2-cycles) - Eventually parity solve
Advantages : not too much algorithms to learn (nothing if you still know the fridrich method) Weakness : a lot of set up moves to bring edges and corners in the up face and in the right configuration => this is slow and you have to be concentrate
Next step : solve the rubik's cube in less than 30 sec - I want to learn the Fridrich method and be efficient on the F2L. For instance, I am very slow on the F2L (about 4 min!!!!), very much slower than with the beginner method - I have to train. I will also simplify the OLL by doing the 2 steps OLL (9 algo to learn instead of 57!).

Solved the MF8 Starminx today (the actual Starminx, not the Dino Dodecahedron). It's a very nice challenge, and I'd like to thank Brandon for his video tutorial so I could find out the commutators for the points.

It's a very nice challenge, and I'd like to thank Brandon for his video tutorial so I could find out the commutators for the points. If you have a starminx you should be making a video review ! please? I too watched some of Brandon's videos, very very nice tutorials, I highly recommend, I cannot wait to try it myself!
