Hello! This here will show you each and every puzzle in my collection. I have puzzles ranging from twisty to wooded to metal to plastic and slide. have about 40 individual puzzles in my collection. Each puzzle will have a brief 2 to 3 sentence paragraph description and a link to it's YouTube review. Please note that the puzzles with no link are the ones no review. I only review the ones that I can solve, which is about 90%. The "T" Puzzle will have a review coming shortly...

Twisty Puzzles:

1. Numbered Cube - This here is the first twisty puzzle I ever got. My mom got it for $1 at Target. It turns pretty well on only half the sides. The others are kinda stiff. 4. Face Cube - This cube I got in a set of four other puzzles. It has a unique locking mech that helps in speedsolving. Unfortunately, it was stolen...

5. QJ 2x3x3 - I bought this off of Amazon for 7 bucks. It really should've been 3 bucks. I was dissapointed. did modify it and it now works 95% better...

6. Rubik's Twist - I originally had this puzzle but it broke. I bought a new one off of Amazon. It workes pretty well and I have a pretty good record on it.

3. Maze Cube - This puzzle drove me crazy for months. It came in a kit of 4 other puzzles. It's a pretty good challenge.

4. Sudoku Cube - This is a more challenging version of the Numbered cube. It's a sudoku problem in cube form!!

5. Word Cube - I playfully nicknamed this cube "The Word on the street" after that litle kid show, Sesame Street. I have no clue on how to solve it and don't intend on figuring it out soon.

6. Gordions Knot - I got this puzzle for Christmas a few years back. It's a pretty tough challenge and I only solved it once. It was really tough. I enjoy it a lot and toy around wit it occasionally.

7. "T" Puzzle - This puzzle comes on a chain. You take it off and rearrange the pieces in a "T" shape. REVIEW IS COMING SOON!!!

I own all of these except certain wooden puzzles. This is a collection that is clearly growing. I suggest going for different solving ones or faster speed cubes. Most of the puzzles you have are rather bad in turning quality. The best would have to be the Eastsheen 4x4x4 (which you say you never really scramble).

The truth is, there is nothing spectacular in this collection, and it seems you haven't widened your range of solving too much. You also haven't really gotten any faster puzzles with which to speedsolve. Besides collecting, solving, and speedsolving, what can a collection offer?

Looks like you buy most of your stuff in stores/flea markets. I'd definitely consider making more investments in puzzles on the internet. There's such a variety out there now. If you don't feel comfortable ordering from China/ Hong Kong, plenty of people sell old, used puzzles on ebay, too.

Kapusta is absolutely right. EBay is a great place to start off, and places like Mefferts offer a great range of items all collections ought to have. Take a look at this thread for ideas on what to get.

HOW DARE ANYONE WRITE THAT?!!! Our collections are our choices in the making. This passing of judgement on others is horrendous! It's his collection and he's proud of it. I think his posting of reviews is much better than my posting of nothing more than photos.

Not everyone collects to have fast puzzles....not everyone is into solving variety....Shall we respect others any the less because they don't have the same idea of what 'collecting' means? Heaven forbid that day come. There would be no reason to collect anymore.

Am I lumped into this? Do I no longer (as if I ever did) have a "spectacular collection" because I don't have speed cubes???? The same could be said for Georges, Panda, many others.

Dude! What the heck! I spent an hour trying to make a nice post for people to enjoy and here you are dissing it. I'm pretty much a beginner puzzler. I have more 3x3x3's than anything else. Most of my 3x3's are collectors pieces or super cubes. I happen to think it's a pretty nice collection considering I have a starting point of 4 to 5 custom cubes. TO ME, THIS HERE IS A DECENT COLLECTION. Other people, such as katsmom, think it's pretty good too. But oh no, you come along and say how crappy it is. I'm also expanding my collection even more with NON CRAP PUZZLES that are probably better than most of your puzzles will ever be. Yeah, I know, I only have 5 twisty puzzles that work well. But you don't have to post disses about my collection.

I strongly suggest you edit your posts. Though Rentlix's post was probably out of line, I doubt that there was any real malice in it. It was poorly worded, but I can understand what he was trying to get at. You are new and really don't want to make posts like this or else you'll be staring the banhammer in the face. You will earn more respect if you are calm and friendly.

That aside, I think that there is nothing wrong with your collection. It's not massive, but we all have to start somewhere right?

Okay, I'm no moderator, but that is no way you should react. A good old calmly message to him should have been better. I think the problem is that the title mentions the word 'big'. Though you do have a fair few puzzles, it isn't as big (number wise) as many others on this forum. Also, 'big' comes under the semantic fields of epic, awesome, huge, and things of that nature, which at the moment your collection isn't really either. That doesn't mean it won't become that though. Getting into this bitchy "I don't care what you say, my collection is a million squillion times better than yours" situation isn't going to do anything apart from provoke a situation. (I believe) Rentlix was mentioning the fact that you say 'big' in the title, when it's not a particularly large collection. He was probably a bit too harsh, but your reaction is way out. Keep bitchy comments to PMs.

Note that I am not judging your collection by size. As Rox said, our own collections are our choices in the making.

'Big' is a very subjective word. Almost like 'Good'.

I have approx. 40 puzzles in my collection, all twisties. To me, this is a fairly decent sized collection. To Sandy? Tony? Rox? Probably not. The inverse applies: there are a multitude of members on this forum that have >10 puzzles, so my collection would perhaps qualify as enormous.

The point is, never use words that could be biased by the subjectivity of the reader. At least when posting here.

But where are the BIG puzzles? They all look regular size to me! (Oh no! Tony made that same joke yet again).
I see nothing wrong with these kind of posts and as said by others it's all subjective. Just ignore the negative remarks Puzzlemaster.

Not being sarcastic here, but did you get 40 puzzles all in one go? Most people started out with one puzzle, not 40. May I ask how long you have been collecting for?

I saw nothing negative posted by Rentlix, its just a bit of constructive criticism. However it appears Puzzlemaster should probably learn to watch what he says more closely.

As a matter of a fact, I had all of my metal puzzles to originally start out with. They came in a kit of 12. I won about 4 - 6 more as prizes. I didn't actually start collecting until about two years ago. My original puzzles I got at age 7.

It's quite nice to have another moderator to catch these sorts of threads in the hours I am not checking the forum (thanks Rox!).

Even after edits though, I feel I have to weigh in and say some of these posts are not the sort one comes to TP and the Puzzle Collecting forum to read.

Just another reminder that we should all re-read and greatly consider what we have written before hitting the "submit" button. Make sure it is giving a positive contribution to the forum which clearly some of these did (and even still do) not.

Why not order a Meffert's original instead of a knock off?

Is QJ really a knock off? I thought it was the best because it has the ball bearing mechanism. IDK if it's a knock off...

Most Pyraminxes have ball bearings.

My 3 Meffert's originals do have them. I have no idea if the QJ ones do or not as I've never seen one myself. I do know that recently QJ has knocked off a few of Meffert's puzzles including the Pyraminx. I believe Rox has stated that they are of lower quality than the originals, which is to be expected I guess. QJ puzzles, even their few originals, have never been of the highest of quality (not the worse either, just somewhere in the middle).

QJ Pyraminxes are okay, Meffert's are a little better. Since it's not an illegal knockoff, it's all your choice.

My mefferts does have ball bearings but if you don't want them they are easily removed. the only problem with it is it locks up a lot.

The reason why i ordered a QJ is because I heard they are excellent. Apparently, the ball bearing mech is amazing. I'd like to see how it really works, instead of watching it through a YouTube video. I'm also entering a speedcubing competition in March for the Pyraminx. Since my original one was a keychain one and was vintage and crappy, I decided to get a new one. The review should be up by tomorrow night since the cube should get to my house by tomorrow afternoon.

nice collection, one day i will get around to posting mine. and i like the reviews as well. those add to the value of the collectors opinions when it comes to which puzzles to get and why. i will warn you though, once you get one of the hand made customs, there is no more help for you and you cannot turn back.

i also have a weakness for the wood puzzles. there is this street sale every christmas in the villiage where i live and i always pick up a new puzzle there.

are you more the solver or the collector?

More of a collector but enjoy solving as well.. The puzzles I'm most strong with are the 15 and 23 puzzles and the Pyraminx.
