Hey guys, I just visited Meffert's website to see any new puzzles or more puzzles in stock when I saw that the Mosaic Cube was sold out... I know that Meffert said he'll stop making these after they sold out, but I know it has been out for a little while and I want to know if they are still in stock and just a typo(?) or if they are actually gone for good. If they are gone, then I'll be quite bummed about it... I don't care if the quality is horrible, I'd still like to get it for my collection, whenever I get the money of course.

Wow, that was fast, glad I got one. It doesn't turn too bad if you put it on a flat surface, but if you try and turn it in your hand it collapses like a pillow.

Maybe they will improve it before they do a second run... you win then.

I'm sure others have noticed, but Oskar's put a sphere core for the Mosaic cube in his Shapeways shop. It's $11 USD (+shipping) but if it will improve my $42 Mosaic cube (which is just lying around because I'm afraid of destroying it if I touch it too much) and convince me to play with it more often, I'm willing to pay the price.

That sphere looks interesting. If it really improves the mosaic cube that much, I will buy one.
I think you would have to take the original core apart and insert the arms into the holes of the sphere?

You may want to hold off on that buy until I have tested it on my Mosaic Cube. I would not want you to waste $11 + shipping

I would rather have it like this than it not be made. Still, looking at the mechanism I think some kind of internal plastic ball might help it maintain its shape for hand turning. Slipped over the core and fitting snug under the pieces. Just a thought.

No, I just followed your suggestion.Thank you! I added a reference to your suggestion with the Shapeways model. I wanted to do this before, but I could not locate your post again. Credit should go where credit is due.I do not think that a spherical core can be patented anymore

Just wondering, has the new type of core worked yet? This may be a little too early to ask anyway, oh wells Hopefully they can get back in production soon.

Thanks Oscar, for the credit for a small mod. Although the credit is certainly yours, the mechanism for the mosaic is incredible. It does `remind` me a bit of the rex cube or master skewb, but it is quite unique.

I was only joking around a bit (especially about the patent), but wow, turns out you did get the idea from me. I thought there might be a small chance. Glad I could help.

I hope this can be a solution to make that cube perfect like it deserves.
