(Happy new year everybody! ) So today I decided to log in to the TP forum. Well I typed in my username and password correctly, and I get this message http://img529.imageshack.us/f/uhhw.jpg/ telling me that I exceeded maximum tries to login. But I only tried logging on once? And my password was correct and it did this? Does anybody else experience the same problem? It has happened more than once. Probably the past week or so.

Same happened to me. I clicked on 'Forgot Your Password' and used the new password that they sent me. I then changed it back to what it was before.

Yeah, I've had this problem too. Nothing serious; I can still log in, but it's still a bit annoying.

It happened to me the other day, on my computer and my iPod. I just left it for a bit and it was okay later. Those CAPTCHAs are quite difficult to read though sometimes. Alex

I haven't had this problem but how do you get out of that page? It's not letting me get away from that page.

I've just encountered this problem again today. I am logged on at home, in my office and on my phone....I'm now trying to log into a classroom computer and bam! I got the too many log-ins. My guess is that I am on too many computers at one time. I had no problem yesterday from the convention center-but my computers were all turned off bar the phone. That may be the problem.

This happened to me too I just retyped the username, password, and code though and it worked fine.
Does this maybe have something to do with logging in from a different source than normal?
Because I log in flawlessly at home, but have troubles at school and at the library. Anybody know?

I think, at this point, Sandy and the mods are aware of the problem It's bound to happen to everyone at one point or another, and, seeing as it's not that serious (just a minor inconvenience) I think it's fine for now. It doesn't happen that often to me, and when it does, I type in the code and I'm in.

I've been getting this from time to time too. I haven't changed any forum code in the past few months and I did a little research on the issue, but didn't find any real answers. There is a forum update ready to be installed, so I'm wondering if the issue will get resolved that way. I'll try to remember to post an update here after the install.
Just wondering, does anyone get this with any browser other than Internet Explorer?
Sandy

I haven't actually investigated the problem but I think this happens when the value in the phpbb3_cnynd_sid cookie field is no longer valid on the web server. You open your browser, it tries to use your old session which fails. Then you enter your username and password where the failure condition is checked, causing the CAPTCHA to be presented.
I have only run into the problem on browsers with a quite old copy of an unexpired cookie which bolsters the theory.
