I realize this is nothing new, as it's been discussed in the "Items you don't see everyday or that sold for a high price" thread. (by the way, what did that cube sell for?) It was something that I started before I saw the initial auction, but never finished. Just yesterday I was digging through my box of unfinished projects and I rediscovered it 3/4 finished. I decided I wanted it complete and finished the last 1/4 just last night (a feat of patience for one night). In the end there were 864 crystals placed on the cube one by one. I used acrylic crystals instead of swarovski crystals due to the cost difference. What do you think?

Mine are flat on top if that helps and swarovski crystals. Dear God I hope there real.

On a different I always wanted to make the largest cube out there that is odd, make it into platinum and have very pretty exspensive jewels on it. Thats just me.

The stones I used are flat on top as well. The only real difference is the quality. If you can compare the two, they look exactly the same in size and shape, but the swarovski are just perfect in comparison. They also aren't made from acrylic.

That's not to say that it was inexpensive to make mine:

$10.58 - 3x3 cube
$23.81 - 864 stones @ ($3.17 per 115)
Total: $34.39

That doesn't include the extra 3 packs of stones I needed to buy to get the right ratio of colored stones correct (they were mulitcolor packs). I can't imagine the cost if I'd used swarovski crystals.
Darren, I'd love to see pics of yours. I'm not sure I ever got to see what your cube looked like in the first place, as the auction description expired before I had a chance to see it.
