Okay so I got into the Rubik craze. Rubaholic for sure. I bought a mini
2x2x2 and a white edition, 3x3x3 from rubiks.com. I'm trying to master
the 2x2 first then move on to the 3x3. I also took apart my 2x2x2 to
learn the mechanics of the cube better.. i also filed some plastic inside to
make the thing spin so smooth, it's great...tony fisher can't touch this!

I'm really having trouble finding sites that help to solve the corners of the
2x2 mini as they are all old and refer to the older pocket cube which color
pattern is different. I'm too new to substitute colors, i'm an idiot basically.
I mastered the moves of the mini cube, F, R, U, F', R', U', F2, R2, U2 and
can solve the minicube without looking while looking at an online solution,
so atleast i know how to twist, i just don't know any algorithms yet. I tried
mixing my cube up randomly, then solving and trying to figure out a pattern
while i solve it with the online solver, but it's not comming together for me.


Is there a decent site that will help me learn this thing? After visiting macky's
site i'm inspired truly to become better, no matter how long or how hard
this is, i wan't to get better... these puzzles fascinate me... i've seen them
before in movies but never had one in my hands until a friend brought one
over randomly and i played with it... utterly mind boggled... i had to know
how to solve it and this is where my journey begins.

Thanks for those who take the time to help, you were in my position at
one point!?

I'd suggest you start with the 3x3, not 2x2. The 3x3 is easier for a beginner because you can use the centers as reference to hold on to, and because you can solve at least 8-12 pieces easily yourself without a solution of someone else if you seriously give it a try.

I figured. The hardest part of solving my 2x2 is the orientation, since
there is no centers. I'll build my 3x3 which is in pieces and see where i end up with that first. There's clearly more help for the 3x3 anyway around
the net. Thanks!

Also as long as the solution you start with for the 3x3 is general enough you can apply many of the same algorithms to your 2x2.
