Wow! how is that for a hint!

I cant tell what it is, but I can see there is something. my eyes are just made for those picture. (I have a small flaw in one of my eyes which makes it ever so slightly cross eye).

Seems like it's a rainbow cube with some additional cuts, as if the square faces were also turnable!

This puzzle has been done before.

From the top and bottom it looks like a 3x3x3.

And the remaining sides have an X as the only visible cuts.

Have fun!

It's idea came from one of similar concepts between one of Drewseph's and one of Tony Fisher's puzzles.

It is a higher order of a previously made puzzle.

It will be available on shapeways.

This one is not a collaboration with Sharon,

and for all of you people who prefer black plastic puzzles, I will be dyeing the first one black.... just for you.

Please keep all guesses and ideas to yourself.

I think there is something wrong with the magic eye, unless you are trying to just do a two layer 3d image of squiggles :lol:

(I see magic eyes just fine(and love them) so hopefully you can fix this)

I think it was the 3x3x3 Rainbow hint, so I don't know how much it matters anymore.

Is it a mental block? There is one more puzzle with 3x3x3 look from top and bottom and with X as the cuts on the sides but I really don't remember the name of it =S

[puzzle]I'm a 'doctrinaire' puzzle that popped into Carl's head today. I'm a cube with 3 orthogonal axes of rotation. Each axis goes through two opposite face centers. There are two planar cuts per axis of rotation or one per face which allows face layer rotation by 90, 180, or 270 degrees in either direction. As I'm a doctrinaire puzzle I'm not bandaged or a shape mod. I'm still a cube and looks just as I did before and after a turn if my stickers are removed. I'm not fudged. What am I?

If you say 3x3x3, you are very very wrong. I don't think I've been made before. If you say Complex3x3x3 Carl will say "I wish" but sadly you'd still be wrong. Besides the cuts on a Complex3x3x3 are NOT quite single planes as they are on me.

Carl will tell you what I am in another (already existing) thread tonight. If you can guess that thread you might be able to see where I came from. Carl already had picked out the perfect name for me but someone beat him to the punch and used that name for a very different puzzle.[/puzzle]

[Carl]This new idea has me quite excited. Not only is this my newest puzzle idea I think it should be the easist to make of all my crazy puzzle ideas. So easy in fact I'm wondering if someone has already made one. Is that enough hints?

I can't pull up youtube at work but that can't be it. When you turn a layer/face only the pieces in that layer/face turn.

The video is Oskars Geary cube; looks like a normal 3x3 but when a face it turned the opposite face is turned in the other direction.

From what you describe, I would say a normal 3x3, but you say this is wrong. I cannot wait to see what you have come up with Carl!

Well its now out there... happy hunting. And thanks for guessing... no one else even took a shot in the dark.

The puzzle is the Anisotropic 3x3x3. I was wanting to call it the Anisotropic Cube but Oskar beat me to that one. I'm a bit worried that Anisotropic 3x3x3 may still be too close so that may not be its final name. Still need to figure out how to make one.
