I'm accessing it through my Blackberry using jmirc http://jmirc.sourceforge.net/ (be sure to use the latest beta, 0.97). It seems to be stable until I get a phone call or too many text messages which may disrupt the data stream as my Sprint service doesn't support data and voice at the same time.

Sorry to post on this, but the IRC is really messed up for me tonight. Has anyone else got the same problem?

Yup, thanks for telling me I'm not the only crazy one. Some kind of server error, I think.

Is there any update on the problem? Is there a time that we can expect it to be back up?

I tried accessing it through Mibbit, entered all of the relevant information and even got through to others for a while. ThenI closed it and reopened later, and now when I try to log on, it says "lightirc terminated". Anyone know either if there is an alternate access site or a way to fix the problem on Mibbit?

I've moved the channel to a new server, which should be more reliable. Unfortunately, it's in German... But I think we can deal with that. Chatting is the important thing, anyway.
The new server for those connecting with their own clients is webchat.iZ-smart.net (default port).
Also, for those wondering why I can't simply pick one of the bigger networks: only a few servers are set up so that you can connect through the flash applet. The flash applet makes the channel much more accessible, so I want to do what it takes to keep it.

Generally it's in evenings. It would be great if more people came on; for the most part it's just Tom, Greg and I. It's a great place with great on and off topic.

Seeing as the IRC has become really quiet for a fair while now, I thought I should remind everybody that it's still active and always has great conversation!

Maybe someone can PM rox to put the updated information for accessing with your own client in the first post. That would be great!

Hi everybody! I just want to encourage you and everybody else to to come down to the IRC chat! There are always room for one more. We share knowledge on solving techniques, discuss mass products, new mechs and modding techniques. In other words, you are bound to learn something new! Or being able to help out a fellow cuber I check in at least once everyday and the stay is often a few hours. If you dont find me there, there is a guarantee the you will find either TomZ, Luke, Brandon (bmenrigh) or Guilty Bystander. so come on down!

I've been using the chat recently, and it's awesome! But... it hasn't worked for the last few days. It doesn't show all the text or redirect me to #twistypuzzles at the beginning, so I'm trapped in the beginning screen. Can anyone confirm if this is my problem or the server's problem?

The IRC has been a little slow lately so I think this deserves a bump. I don't think I could say it any better so: Sigurd wrote: Hi everybody! Well, the chat has been somewhat quiet for a while now, so I figured it was worth bumping this thread to remind people to check out the chat. When there's a number of people there is generally a lot of good conversation.

I connect with a standard IRC client using webchat.iZ-smart.net (port 6667) and then joining #twistypuzzles
This server can be picky at times and not let you in. Just keep trying.

I saw a lot of people log in yesterday only to quickly log off when they saw no activity. Keep in mind that our community is worldwide so people in different time zones may not be active when you are. Also, this is a live IRC chat so when you log in you are not going to see any buffered past activity. You will see only whatever gets posted while you are there. I suggest using an IRC client and just let it run in the background for a while. That way you will see any activity that happens to take place while you are busy elsewhere. I use mIRC for my PC and AndChat for my phone (as I post this I am on there with my phone). Unfortunately there can be hours if not days with no activity but sometimes there is some really great conversations going on. The more people we can get on their regularly the more conversations that will take place.
