VIDEOAt the same time as I received the Starminx III parts I also received pieces for this puzzle. Unfortunately I accidentally ordered 4 fewer edge pieces than I needed to assemble it, so it has been sitting half assembled for the last few weeks. Heart breaking I know. Especially since the ETHAN cube was shown recently, I guess I was beaten ^_^ This puzzle uses a new type of snap on corner cap which allows me to assemble the puzzles with ease and simply pop in the corners once the edge pieces are in place. This means I don't have to force any parts inside the puzzle and potentially break it. The puzzle turns fantastically, but is not without its flaws. The X's, like on the super X, are quite squishy. Due to the angle of the cut, pieces really like to slide out of the way easily, and release their tension on the edge pieces. This results in the edge pieces ability to rotate in place, though its not easy to do this by accident, it is a shame that it happens. I guess its more of a feature.

Amazing as always! Also the link in your video description goes to a song so unless you wanted a working mechanism for a song i'd say that could be a mistake. Derek Bosch wrote: that's the Cubical Toru, right? It says cubic Rua in the youtube description.

I would gladly take second with a puzzle that turns "flawlessly" and jumbles (even if it is a little less "squishy" than the ETHAN). Trade?

I don't usually wow over many creations, as much as I love seeing them all.
But this one is such an unexpected and original idea. I completely love it!

Fantastic puzzle Drew! I love how it looks so similar to a 3x3 yet it is nothing like a 3x3.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad you like the puzzle. Originally I could not get enough room in the puzzle to have grips strong enough to hold parts inside. so the puzzle was 80mm per edge in order to be stable. that's when I gave up on the idea, but I decided to revisit it recently and crush it back down to reasonable size. GuiltyBystander wrote: Could you please explain your hint from this thread? I can't figure out if this is the dinosaur or the test facility. This has nothing to do with those hints., this puzzles hint was "a cube who's center piece is surrounded by something one greater than porn."

Another beautiful puzzle by Drew. This is one I have had my eye on for ages now. Now in hindsight it makes sense that the tiny triangles and edge are squishy. They seem quite a bit like the squishy parts on the Super-X. [rant] PuzzleMaster6262 wrote: Namegoeswhere wrote: Jorbs3210 wrote: Awww MANNNNN! I had this idea first! Can we end the "I did it first!" contests around here? It really doesn't matter until you have a working puzzle in your hands, that you put your own time, money, and efforts into making. Having a thought "Oh, I think a deeper cut helicopter cube would be cool" doesn't really mean anything. If you are going to post something like this at LEAST be constructive, like "I came up with this a few months ago, heres what I did different" or "here was my mechanism idea". Its just silly to claim that you came up with an idea first, yet you have no evidence of a physical copy or even a design. Frankly, (and not to take away from the mega accomplishment that this puzzle is) this is a pretty obvious puzzle and nobody should have the right to claim it as their own idea, much in the same way as the helicopter cube was built by many people, myself included, yet it was not claimed by anyone as their original idea. I'd known what puzzle it was, because 3.3.3 was written underneath it in white, but I never figured out the hint. Fantastic work, I think that the Edge turning cube set will soon be complete!

Who will be the first to make a combination of normal helicopter cube and skewb. A cube that twists on edges as well as corners, but not its faces. Hmmm...

Nice work! I've always loved this puzzle. Now it's only 3.3.5 to go and you'll have made all the fundamental edge-turning cubes!
Have you solved it yet? This guy is a decent challenge with an undo button (ie, on computer), but without... I figure it'd take a pretty long while.

Cool! The trick to this puzzle--and it's next logical progression the 3.3.5 puzzle--is getting the pesky edge piece to stay in. This approach seems to work well enough, perhaps it can be extended. Or, you can take the approach I've done, which hopefully will work as well. Prototype being printed now...
