Hello, I would like to present my new puzzle - Scissors and Scotch Puzzle. The idea was inspired by 2 Loops Puzzle, presented on IPP 30. Enjoy! Best regards, Vladimir Yaroslavskiy

The goal is to separate the golden ring (small scotch) and the string (double white string) from the main frame (thick string), without cutting any parts, and not using force.

Moving to Off Topic as the other forums are generally reserved for Twisty and similar puzzles (permutation, consecutive movement, etc.). Although interesting, this is far enough from that classification that Off Topic is a closer match. Dave

Actually the question of whether this puzzle fits in the sequential category can be a rather interesting question! String/Ring puzzles are considered topological (or even part of the more modern knot-theory, which is a spatial type of graph theory), and can be bandaging (like in this case) while in other cases, they can be clearly sequential, as in the case of the Chinese Rings, which mathematically, is exactly the same puzzle to the Spin-Out or its binary based cousins. I know all this sounds puzzling, so I hope I am making sense here! It is simply another case where people do maths without knowing it! Pantazis

Another reason why we should have a non-twisty area in the forum. The off-topic is not the right place for it right now with all the non-sense noise going on... I know this is the TwistyPuzzles forum, not the NonTwistyPuzzles, but a lot of people here like other types of puzzles as well. And I understand why so many members have been discussing this need over the past few days. When you have a group of people you know, you'd like to stick with that group and discuss your ideas with them, because you already know them. You don't go to somewhere else talking to other people, just because the place where you hang around isn't the proper "venue". Don't take me wrong, especially the mods. This is just constructive criticism from someone who would like to have a new area to talk about other puzzle types

Sorry to hijack iaroslavski's thread once more but I don't disagree with many of gabrielmpf's points and of course appreciate the nice feedback.
I think this is the current best location but not a great one. Perhaps we can separate a "Non-Twisty puzzles" forum out of what is now Off Topic, to separate the puzzle related stuff from the catch all that is Off Topic today.

Dave Dave, I certainly understand the difficulty of making such decisions. I would love to use my exposure/experience for this if needed. A subforum of an existing forum, general or off-topic, would certainly do, or even another forum, as the number of those non-twisty puzzles is significant. Pantazis

And now it finds its home in the new "Non-Twisty Puzzles" forum Dave
