Yes, this is the kabalabda. I have one. The aim is to rotate the inner ball (there are two openings in the outer shell to allow you to do this) so that the black dots fill the holes in the black pentagons, giving a proper football design.
It is not very difficult. There are only 60 ways to line up the dots with the pentagons, and only one of these (I think) is a solution. Easily solved by trial and error.
It is one of those puzzle on my list that I one day will add to my website.

Here's my most recent bargain... a tiled russian pyraminx (smaller than the standard Meffert/Tomy version but larger than the keychain versions):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5942550000
Ended up costing me about $13US net after shipping from Germany. Only a scratch across the blue tiles. I'm definitely pleased! It seems to need a bit of lube though.

I've got one of these, but this is the first time that I've ever seen one packaged:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5951895716
Does anyone know if this is the only packaging for this puzzle? Mine has the "Million Space Shuttle" sticker on the center white cubie. I know that a lot of them do not have any identifying label.
Also, here are a pair of rare German puzzles from the '80's. This is also the first time that I have seen their packaging. I think the auction would have sold MUCH MUCH HIGHER had the title specifically called out these puzzles and if it had been in English.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5952065653
Hope you enjoy.
Doug.

Grr...I bid on that but was a bit hesitant about bidding too highly, as the auction was for Germany only...and the seller didnt reply to a number of emails!
O well!

What metal are those cubes made of? Do they actually work like a standard Cube does? My dad was thinking of molding a cube out of silver, but he says it would take on the order of $200 worth.

You are right. I spend a lot of money..
But, I like this puzzle very much.
It's small, and plungers with spring is good for playing.
It's moderately difficult for me (not easy, not too difficult).
This Tsukuda's Square may be easier than one of number type,
because there are only two patterns on tiles.
Anyway, I'm very happy to win it.

Hey guys, I've sort of been in the dark here on this: what exactly is a Tsukuda's Square? What makes it so valuable? Why do people want it so much?

Opps! Yes, 4 patterns. I made mistake. jaap wrote: qqwref wrote: Hey guys, I've sort of been in the dark here on this: what exactly is a Tsukuda's Square? What makes it so valuable? I came to be interested in Tsukuda's Square , since I visited Jaap's puzzle page.
Though this puzzle is like Rubik's fifteen puzzle, it has unique system.
BTW,
Now I found an old price tag on the box of my Tsukuda 4x4 (Japanese version of Tsukuda's Square).
According to the tag, its price used to be 880yen.

Do you mean only 4 times seen an actual one? I probably see more than that in a week on Ebay. Look here:
http://search-completed.ebay.com/zigzaw
or perform a search for "zigzaw" on Ebay.

You know you shouldn't post auctions that haven't ended yet.
This cube was on eBay UK, and prices there still seem to get higher than the norm. Maybe it is simply because many uk ebayers haven't noticed that by default their searches are restricted to the UK only rather than all countires. Many items therefore seem to be rare in the UK even if they are not so rare in the world.

I dont think me posting that will result in anyone bidding on the puzzle... they'd need to plan remortgaging their house first.

Congratulations!
The usual 'Diamond style puzzler' has yellow/orange/green layers, but this one looks more like the version (of which I don't know the official name) which has each 'column' a separate colour, a bit like the octagon.

Not too bad a price, especially with the box. Better price than what I got mine for. They sure did misspell Rubik's. Too bad, otherwise it would have fetched more.
