The Quirky Cube has been prototyped and is available to buy here:
http://www.shapeways.com/model/118313/t ... _cube.html

It was printed by Claus in FDM, and it works great!

I noticed the rendering on Shapeways and thought how funky that looks, now I can see how it is bandaged I think that it is even more neat than I did before. I think that the print gives the puzzle a bit of an odd look so I think that it would look good stickered (maybe in 1 color). Casting a copy also looks good to me. Otherwise, a good job from you! I like how it shows the versatility of the Square-1 concept.

True, I think all black stickers would look nice.

It can't be cast. :? The core is much too complex for that (2 big pieces that anchor 3 layers)

Nice puzzle, I'd seen it a while ago on Shapeways, before you were active on Twistypuzzles. Glad to see it's done, and I too would love to see it with black stickers. :D

Okay, I'll do that then. :) I'd like it with stickers too the more I think about it, but I don't really feel like designing the complicated templates.

You could ask Dr. Sticker to design the stickers for you :)

I like this idea, but I'd like a symmetrical version more. :P

I think a 3 coloured version would be nice, but instead of the colours being opposite each other, make them next to each other. That would be a funky colour scheme. Black, red and green is what I'd go for.

Thanks, everyone! :D

How about Purple, Orange and Black? I like the idea of being next to each other instead of opposite.

I agree. This puzzle is very cool but I just don't like the look of the wonky layers. :?

I really want to buy this! Just need to save up. I'm guessing the whole thing would come made, no casting involved?

That is one hard puzzle! Absolutely insane, but really cool!

Great design job, too.

I like it except it looks TOO loose.

IDK, maybe that's just me?

Correct. You just need to assemble it and get a screw (15-20 mm M2)

@V-Dude

You can adjust it. It loosened up alot as the FDM broke in, and I haven't tightened it yet.

I still think Black, Red and Green personally, but I do think it would look better colours next to each other.

I've put a temporary 20% off discount on the Quirky Cube. Get it while it lasts!

How could you possibly be offering a 80% discount? That would mean that normally, the puzzle would cost $880. I don't think you ever put that much mark up on it.

By the way, I think you should make it clearer that this puzzle has only been prototyped in FDM. Just because something has been made in FDM, doesn't mean it will work in SLS also.

Maybe he means it is discounted to 80% of the original price?

Or 80% off his markup.

Garret's right, 80%, not 80% off.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. It's 20% off the original price. I'll change it to avoid confusion.

Well, I've had much more experience with FDM then SLS, but I know SLS is stronger and (a lot) higher resolution then FDM. I can't see why it wouldn't work.
