Hey guys.
I was recently interested in buying one or more sets of those magnetic spheres.
Does anyone have any experience with them? Any advice?
My main concern is about which brand to buy. I'm really confused... There are the original NeoCube, the CyberCube, BuckyBalls and Zen Magnets. Not to mention the "generic" brands. But I didn't find any reliable source of info to decide which is the best.
So I thought of asking the people I really trust. Does anyone know which one has the best quality/durability?
I plan on buying a lot of them (like 1000 spheres), so I want to go with the right brand.
Thanks! Paulo

I have a set of the genuine NeoCubes and they are just awsome! The prices between brands do not vary all that much so I'd advise you to go with NeoCube. If I'm not mistaken they also have special offers if you buy bigger sets. I did buy a couple of cheap DX sets just for comparison but to be honest they are basically crap (IMO at least). It's all about quality before quantity when it comes to these magnetic spheres. My 2c. Hope it helped

I've bought two sets of the original Neocubes (for 6x6x6 and 10x10x10 cubes). They are really good and I found many voices on the Internet giving the advice to go with the originals. I have no personal experience with other brands, though.

Why not buy magnetic spheres in bulk from K&J?

Thanks guys!
For those who played with NeoCube, what you think about the sphere size? Some people say they are too small.
Neocube uses 4.76mm spheres, while some other use 5mm and 6mm spheres.
I know CyberCube has a model with 6mm spheres, but I don't know if it is a good brand.
Anyone?
Thanks! Paulo

My brother has a similar thing to a neocube, and I have a neocube. I have found out that the neocube is easier to play with because a neocube is easier to pull apart flat shapes when they are stacked ontop of eachother. -Uber Cuber

I have I set of 216 from Cyber cube, they seem good but then I have nothing to compare them to. The only thing Ive noticed is that after using them a lot your hands get dirty from the magnets slowly breaking down. I would assume this happens with all high power magnets.

I believe the NeoCubes are the highest quality. I'd advise you to get those, because as others have said, the prices don't vary all that much and it's more about the quality.

Is it kinda weak as some people say, or have you noticed any wear on their strength? About the coating, did you notice any shattering or wear, or small particles coming off the coating to your hands? Thank you! Paulo

The balls on a neocube are a little smaller than any other one I have seen, and the magnitism is a little weaker, but the overall of the cube seems better than my brother's one because the spheres look nicer to me smaller and the slightly weaker magnitism helps with making geometric shapes and deconstructing them without geting a mess of little magnetic spheres. From my expierence the neocube is better, and dosn't leave residue from the balls on your fingers.

Thanks Uber.
I have now reduced my choices to either NeoCubes or Zen Magnets.
Does anyone have Zen Magnets? What do you think about them regarding the questions I made in my last post about size, strength and coating resistance?
I will buy a large quantity of them, and I will pay significant shipping, so I have to go with the best quality one.
Thanks very much guys! Paulo

(Personnally i would go for ZenMagnets, because the only difference, is that they have free 24 hour shipping, compared the the others which have 8 $ 1-4 day shiping)
Cheers,
Greg That if I lived in USA! So for me shipping is not a variable in the equation, as I will have to pay for it anyway. Quality is all that matter! Paulo

To me neocubes seem to be a better quality than other brands of magnets.
