http://www.oddee.com/item_97001.aspxI looked at the title of this and thought "there's going to be solving a Rubik's cube there", and I looked at the thumbnail next to the title and it was a guy solving a 3x3x3. Alex

The thing that impresses me more than the guy solving the cube while skydiving is the guy taking the video of it. He must have been hanging out the plane in order to get the shot of him jumping out, then adjusting to make sure he's at the same approximate height and whatnot.

We had a Reach for the Top tournament (for Non-Canadians: Reach for the Top is a youth trivia quiz game that has tournaments all over Canada that culminate in a televised national championship) and one of the questions was "The V-7 (or V-Cube 7) is a variant of what-". I didn't let the reader finish the question because I was "buzzing in". I buzzed in so hard I accidentally broke my buzzer . What's more, I happened to have my V-Cube 7 with me on the table beside me (I bring my cubes to tournaments to intimidate the other players-it works, too!)

HAHAHAHAHA WOOPS!
I've been Pacquiao crazy since last weeks fight.
What's funny is that I actually double checked that link and re-copy and pasted it to make sure I didn't screw up, but I must've hit the wrong key!
And yes, that is the one I meant to post.

Our friend Smaz had a bit of a spread in a local magazine this week. I thought you all would enjoy seeing it. Don't ask me to translate, I can't! Maybe someone here would be kind enough to do so. Attachment:

All I really got in a quick scan by my husband this morning is "You spend way too much on puzzles each month", "Michael makes more playing with toys than you do teaching", "[Censored. Please be nice!]! why did they put that picture in there-how are you going to do it now?", "I don't know which one of you are crazier".

This isn't exactly public, but I guess you tube is open for the general public in most places, so I'll post it. It's a girl balancing books on her head while reciting 100 digits of pi while solving a Rubik's cube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUGjUCHSKLMActually, looking at the video again, she's just twisting a solved cube around and keeping it solved. I'm not sure about the numbers of pi though. -d

New commercial by s.Oliver: Play Denim http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rS-77YGVDAgI went to a store and asked about it. There isn't actually a Rubik's Cube to play with for customers. It's nothing like "Get 10% off for every side you solve."

My brother just alerted me to this article on Spiegel Online (Spiegel is German for mirror): http://www.spiegel.de/netzwelt/gadgets/0,1518,689395,00.htmlThe title translates as "Rubik's Cube as Small Power Plant". Designer Zheng Weixi (I searched for his name here, but didn't find it) has the idea to use the energy which is applied to solve a Cube to power small devices such as mp3-players. He thinks of putting a battery inside the cube which can give it's power via USB.

The Japan Times editorial cartoon by Roger Dahl on 2010-04-22 was a 2x2x2 Hatoyama's Cube. The faces included Hatoyama's face, a map of Okinawa, words Futenma and Base and Move etc. Naturally the configuration shown is unsolvable.
Unfortunately the Japan Times's web site doesn't seem to include an archive of their editorial cartoons and I hesitate to scan a knockoff.
