In the beginning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-RUia-Ki21QAn episode of Word Girl, TJ, the younger brother of Becky (Word Girl) and a fan of Word Girl, finds out, along with the rest of Becky's family, that Becky is word girl. Angry, he throws away his fan-based items, which include a rubik's cube. An episode of Potatoes and Dragons, Riri, who lost the King's crown, was trying to find the mould for the crown, searching through his pile of toys. One toy he threw away was a rubik's cube An episode of a Filipino gameshow, Wowowee, shows one of the prizes is a rubik's cube. He (Willie, the game show host) also had a person who could solve a rubik's cube blindfold An episode of an educational Filipino show, Matanglawin, tells the history of rubik's cube and saying that it's one of the most given present in the world

As i walked out yesterday i was like whoa is that a pyraminx? and it was but we were to busy today for me to ask to play with it Hehe, this happened to me somewhat last year, In Science our teacher was going over something, (can't remember) and he used a pyraminx as a model for what ever we were learning about, it was scrambled of course, and after he went over it, we got to look at the models to practice drawing things, and I decided to pick it up and try to solve it(I had bought one the day before, so it hadn't arrived yet) so I was learning to solve it at home, and I did succesfully, yay =), Of course it shocked everyone like most puzzles do.... and If I remember right, It was a Tomy Pyraminx, looked EXACTLY like this, color sticker, plastic, everything http://sites.webec.com.hk/meffert2/index.cfm?fuseaction=detail&id=1247886&product=16Are those rare/good pyraminx's?

I would say if you want one, scroll through eBay. I see those all the time. This mornings scroll through there must have been at least 10 ranging from $0.99 to $10.99. Timing is all it takes to get one. Rare? I think not. Getting one in a box though is tricky!

This may be considered a bump. But this topic is kind of frequent and will probably never be "over". Anyway: I just saw a comercial of a Dr. Best toothbrush featuring a rubik's cube! Now I checked youtube and although I did not find the commercial that was just on TV, I do know now that Dr Best doesn't seem to be a German brand or something, at least there are englisch commercials too. Whoever knows about it, there was just a commercial of one of these toothbrushes that would (suposedly) clean the areas between your teeth, and in the commercial, that guy showing us used a white ceramic looking 3x3 rubiks cube to do so! I am serious on this! I will be checking youtube during the next time. If anyone finds the commercial somewhere, please post it.

Not exactly in public: I am reading Jonathan Kellerman's True Detectives. On page 14 I quote a bit. "Dmitri picked up something that resembled a Rubik's Cube but had about twenty surfaces to it and squares embossed with Greek letters. Without glancing at the numbers, he whirled rapidly, checked out the result, put it back down." So what puzzle is that? And why haven't I seen it anywhere before?

20 sides is an icosahedron right? And it's probably something the author made up.

doing a simple search yielded no results on the forum, so i thought i would post (or repost if my search was wrong) a picture of a goodwill ad i saw. i knew that the cube would be there even before i finished the ad.... and when it should up i was like..... Justice! i was also especially happy to see it there because i bought a bag of toys for $4 at a goodwill last week just so i could get the cube that was in there..... wasnt particularly special cube, but i love it all the same.

But to be honest, it has happened to me three times to be checked before a flight, once at the airport in Australia, once in Indonesia, and once in USA. But the "Lights Out" series of puzzles, always had that suspicious look and even seemed inviting for some people (including a friend of mine in Singapore) to use it in a (not so) funny way at the subway, where there are constant videos shown about bomb threats. I guess all those extremists are now making it difficult to even keep a puzzle hobby! Pantazis

Dunno if this counts as "in public" but didn't think it deserved it's own thread. I was browsing ThinkGeek and came across a Rubik's inspired t-shirt http://www.thinkgeek.com/tshirts-apparel/glennz/cb03/At first I was that any true geek would want to hard a cube, but then I notice it uses an unusual sticker patter and/or someone switched stickers before throwing it in the frying pan. You can see pieces with blue/green and yellow/white on them. This could be explained if the opposite color pairs are white/green, blue/orange, red/yellow. But the real kicker is that the UFR and UFL (1 sticker hidden, presumably white) are the same corner.

I finally get to work with a smart board in one of my classes. When I went to the site to download the software I found an ad for one of their other projects. It translates roughly to this: "You're looking for a solution for your conference room? You've come to the right address." This is the picture it shows: And here's the link to the full page: http://www.minhoff.de/PWP/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=1

I didn't see all of it so I don't know if it had a part where they talked about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kus85nf3h1I
