The Compy Cube

This one is abased on the concept by Sausage for "Sausage's Cube". This puzzle was designed and built with Wayne's permission. He suggested we come up with a new name, and we settled on "Compy Cube", naming it after a famous little dinosaur.

It's a very easy puzzle to solve which makes it a lot of fun! I think people who are intimidated by twisty puzzles may find this one fun and rewarding to play with.

I'll be offering a very small run of these puzzles for sale soon. They will be 3D printed. As always, the mailing list at http://www.thetwistystore.com is a great way to find out first.

Nice work! I like the occasional easier puzzle.

What is the size? There's reference in the pictures. It looks to me like it is a fair bit smaller than a regular 57mm cube.

I've really liked this puzzle since I did it on UMC (easy, I know :wink:

) and this one looks great.

I doubt that I'll be able to afford it though.

I just don't know what the core is..I feel so useless :lol:

Although it does look like how the Skewb should look based on the master skewb's appearance, imo.

Love it. This would actually make the Dino cube an "edges only" version of this. Or are we going to say this
is a Dino Cube with corners and centers?

This is by far y favorite puzzle built this year so far. I have waited so long for this puzzle to be made and now its here! Great job, and i might just look into buying one of these.

Simple puzzle, but let me tell you, this is not an easy puzzle to design. Jason has certainly pulled off a difficult mechanism.

With the axis of turning being the 8 corners, it probably has an 8-armed core. Does this answer your question?

I'd actually imagine the core being a 14-armed spider with 8 rotating arms and 6 fixed ones.. The centers don't need to be separate edge-like pieces so they can attach directly to the core right?

You both don't seem to see that this is much like a Dino, thus the name "Compy Cube". If it was the Pyraminx Cube it would be the Cubominx, but find "Tony Fisher" in the description of the puzzle if you think so. Honestly, would the others have noted Jason's making of such a complicated mechanism if it was nearly as simple as the Pyraminx?

I think what they mean by a "pyraminx cube" is that all the corner axis that rotate are similar to praminx corners, in that they each move 3 edge pieces. However the Compy Cube doesn't have the unnecessary turning tips. did that make sense? :lol:
