So now I'm shooting for the moon.

If anyone has (or can shoot) high quality photographs of the following puzzles and contribute them to this site, please do so!

Unboxed, unless otherwise specified. Cubes are shot roughly isometrically unless otherwise specified.

  • Cross Teaser: solved, scrambled
  • 6 NHL promo cubes (Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, Montreal, Edmonton, Calgary): a minimum of two isometric shots per puzzle which show all six sides, a close up of each face is probably overkill but that's the kind of guy I am
  • Rubik's Brain Racker: solved, scrambled
  • Rubik's Revolution: standard, and one with lights on if possible
  • Rubik's Revolution Micro Edition: standard, and one with lights on if possible
  • Rubik's Twist, the new version: cobra shape, ball shape, logo stamp close up
  • Rubik's Cube Key Ring: solved, scrambled
  • Rubik's Jr Puzzle: two shots, one shows the three "marked" sides (green, monkey, Rubik's logo), the other shows the three pink sides

I'll take the photographs of the Rubik's Montreal Canadiens Cube this evening.

I can get a couple photos of the revolution. Lights-on will be odd, as I don't know of a mode wherin all of the lights are on at once long enough for a good photo.

Isnt the revolution a toy, and not a puzzle?

It's an electronic game with a couple of trivial puzzle modes, but it's on Sandy's list there and I have one (and a decent camera).

Would you prefer shots to be taken against a light background or a dark background? What resolution and format do you prefer to recieve?

Maybe you can try to take six pictures (isometric angle one, times three (for three lights), plus isometric angle two, times three (for three lights)), if you use a tripod and/or don't move the toy much, then we could Photoshop the six pictures to end up with two pictures that show all the lights on. Just an idea... :D

I found out that if I leave it on for a couple minutes it goes into an attract mode with all of the lights on. I'd never left it on without choosing a play mode before that.

Sandy, if you have the time and energy to scroll through my page, the jr, brain racker, revolution and micro revolution are all on there. Feel free to use what you can. Failing that, if someone else wants to go get those for you they can. Time is not my friend this week or I would help more.

tamaness, I reckon Sandy would definitely be after shots against a light, or white background.

I may be wrong, but doesn't Sandy just intend to edit out the background later?

Trust me, it's always easier to start with an unified background (if possible white), particularly if you will later Photoshop the original background out and replace it with pure white.

What a response!

The Revolution: You caught me red handed... I've never played with it. I was just going by the pictures on RubiksRevolution.com. It looked possible to have at least three lit at once, although their images are obviously specially prepared for the site. I don't know if you can even see the "glow" of the lights in an isometric view. Try it if it's easy, otherwise forget it. It was just an idea, and I'm certainly not attached to it.

A solid white background seems best for our purposes, especially for items with packages that are have translucent areas (which is not the case for this particular batch of requests). The essence of photography is capturing light, and good lighting beats all.

As for resolution, the highest resolution JPG that your camera can capture would be best. It's easy to reduce in the unlikely event that it's too high. The highest resolution images are being saved for future site features and other related projects.

I may troll through your images tomorrow, Roxanne, although I'm short on time before my much needed weekend retreat begins. If any of photo editors want to take that on, you'll earn yourself another level or two of awesome.

Sandy

I took a few pictures, and to be honest, my camera is really bad with shiny things :? However, they would look a little better scaled down.

If you can find a use for them, please feel free to use them.

EDITED to remove gigantic photos -- sorry!

Very nice pictures. It might be a good idea though to remove or at least scale down the embedded pictures they are stretching my screen and some people are using their phones to read this forum and that kind of bandwidth costs a lot.

Edit: Thanks!

Thanks Ben and Steveo. I've copied a few and will hand them over to any remaining willing image editors.

The remaining list:

  • Cross Teaser: solved, scrambled
  • 5 NHL promo cubes (Toronto, Ottawa, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary): a minimum of two isometric shots per puzzle which show all six sides, a close up of each face is probably overkill but that's the kind of guy I am
  • Rubik's Twist, the new version, unpackaged: cobra shape, ball shape, logo stamp close up
  • Rubik's Jr Puzzle: two shots, one shows the three "marked" sides (green, monkey, Rubik's logo), the other shows the three pink sides
