Designed in Nx 5 and completely 3d printed.
The design could be looked at as a truncated rhombiminx, becoming an octahedron which looks the same as a skewb diamond, though moves entirely different.
Turning is smooth.
Stickers will be 8 color, and you can allready solve this thing quite a while on gelatin, at:
http://users.skynet.be/gelatinbrain/Applets/Magic%20Polyhedra/octa_v2.htm

A video can be found at:

And a few images.

I think it could be functionally the same as a Lolo's Ocateder by LaurentB. There's not a great deal of info on it here at TP.

There's a pic on his site http://lodelnic.free.fr/lolocube.php?la ... structions

Ah indeed, I was unaware of this, but it seems to function in the same way, I shall try and contact him

Stop reading my mind! I made that exact puzzle in Ultimate Magic Cube about an hour before reading this thread!

Still, nice puzzle! I can't wait to see it stickered! :D

I am sure, it is the same as Lolo's Octaeder. It was presented here:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1444
The missing images are the ones Laurent still uses on his website.

Don't worry about it, Namegoeswhere. Geniuses think alike!
This thing is equivalent to Alehs CircleCube, isn't it? It is a 4x4x4 without edges and the faces are rotatable on their own.

PS: Do I really have visited this forum that long that I remember this thing?

Some of those mid-turn pictures make me think of it like an octahedral Dogic. I can't really solve a Dogic, nor this, but is the solution similar?

I believe we used to call this a Junior Dogic.

Not equivalent, but there are some similarities in that it is 4x4x4 center based. If the floating centers were not floating on one side and connected to the centers of the other side it would be more similar.
