Could we have a rating system like there is on Youtube? I think It would be a good judge of "good posts" and "bad posts". It might also discourage the kind of posting that people are afraid of from posing rank. (like one word posts((cool, sweet, 0wn3d))) There could aslo be a running total ratio of positive/negitive in the little home page that everyone has.

Until you came along nobody on this forum ever used the word '0wn3d'. Even for the regular version except for a few mentions the only matches are for the verb meaning to possess.
We don't need a ranking system. In my experience they don't really contribute to a good atmosphere at all. They seem just a way to make the people who have been on the forum for longer stand out, which is not really what this forum is about, is it?.
By the way, quite ironic in a certain way how you have over 9 posts a day on average. I don't think anyone can match that. I'm not saying your posts are spam or so, but the 9 posts a day figure to me has a strong relationship with the kind of people to whom such a system would be a deterrent. I'm not saying you are one of them by the way.

What'd I just mention about quoting posts Don't feel sorry - my reaction was a kind of humor that only I understand joke kind of response. Well, actually it was just a way of proving this forum doesn't have 'useless post' problems. I'm not trying to imply your posts are useless. I'm just kinda surprised how you can get 9 posts a day on a forum like this - though for today I think I might be heading to that figure as well.

First of all, such ranking would have to be supported by the forum software. Secondly i dont think it's a good idea. It would encourage "over posting". Or nearly as bad - it might encourage trying to add "hip" or "cool" posts. Thirdly, a while ago we got rid of the official post count. That was a very good thing actually Per

Maybe ranking can be helpfull.
When 2 people post a reply, for example: a better 3x3 method.
So you can rate who is right, so when I look at the rating I know wich is better. Although this right shouldn't be availble for all. Just a few people.

Although this right shouldn't be availble for all. Just a few people. This has all been discussed before in the DMB. But who should be a moderator of correctness? They really would have to be a puzzle expert. It almost seems that if you want people to vote on what is best, a poll would work fine.

We don't use them as much as we probably should.

Quoting only one word? Seriously?
Also, I believe I read that Sausage is having Hard Drive troubles. Could this be the cause? I think he's also looking for an articles moderator.
The best article rating system I know of is the simple "Hey Check out this article"

Perhaps it is a similar issue to this.

Hi There are forums where people DO get punished for asking questions already being answered before. Or even being punished for posting in the incorrect subforum. I do not want this forum to go in that direction. Who would decide who is an expert? Who would decide whether Petrus is better for speed than Roux? Etc etc .... Per

This sort of thing can be useful when things *really* get out of hand -- but even with petaminx-mania, this forum is just too small to need all that baggage for the foreseeable future. And a good thing, too.

The articles that are "broken" are broken links to other sites. I don't know if they still exist, just moved to a new URL, or what. Hopefully the new mod(s) will clean that up... when I get around to processing the mod applications. It's me that's having hard drive problems, not Sausage, and it's delayed my schedule by a week or more.
