I have wondered how many colors of Dino Star puzzles exist.

Seeing Geert's post of a multicolor dino star from earlier this year, I realize that there are most likely puzzles in the eight colors shown in his puzzle.
light blue, dark blue, red, white, brown, black, green, and grey

multicolor - ltblue/darkblue/red/white/brown/black/green/grey viewtopic.php?f=9&t=9713&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

Here are some photos and confirmations of colors I've been able to track down.

brown http://www.geocities.com/jaapsch/puzzles/dinocube.htm
yellow http://twistypuzzles.com/cgi-bin/puzzle.cgi?pkey=920
green mentioned = http://www.twistypuzzles.com/forum/view ... w=previous
blue viewtopic.php?f=1&t=7066&start=0&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
red - I have a red one. You can see it in some photos here: http://www.twistypuzzles.com/forum/view ... &sk=t&sd=a
white - recently sold on ebay - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0166891801

I haven't found photos for black, grey or green, and it's a puzzle whether blue ones in circulation are the light or dark!

Anyone have any further info or photos to add? How about info on when they were sold and how? Where they were manufactured?

The picture of the brown puzzle at Jaaps website is from my collection. Normally it´s yellow, the color at the picture is´nt right. So maybe this puzzle in brown do´nt exist.

I don't own one of these puzzles and I really don't know much about them but to me it looks like what the manufacturers did was just cast the entire puzzle in several colors and then swap the pieces around to make the final product. That would explain all the different color variations that you can find pictures of...

I probably should have posted this in "Puzzle Collecting". Can a mod please move it?

Is there anyone else here that has a dino star? What color is yours?

I would expect Dino Stars in 8 different colors, just the 8 colors of the multicolored one. Maybe the multicolored is custom made out of the eight different color versions ? Anyway, I have seen a grey one on ebay.

After inspection of the pictures of the blue Dino Star I now believe that there are 9 different colors. It exist a light yellow and a dark yellow which tends to be ochre (which is - see Wikipedia - a light yellow brown).

You could see both colors in one picture, here an extract:

And Geerts blue Dino Star is a light blue Dino Star. You could see both different blue in another picture, here an extract:

So Hendrik has an ochre Dino Star which is also shown at Jaaps page. It seems that the inner tetrahedron parts of Geerts light blue Dino Star have the same ochre color.

Oscar, thanks for sharing your green Dino Star.

I have to correct me once again (counting seems to become more difficult with age  ). The multicolored Dino Star has the following 8 colors:
ltblue/darkblue/white/grey/green/red/brown/(lt)yellow.

There exist 2 additional colors black and ochre which are not used in Geerts multicolored Dino Star. So in sum 10 different colors (so far).

6 (+ 1) existing Dino Star colors (so far): ltblue/white/grey/green/red/ochre and the multicolored one
4 missing Dino Star colors (so far): darkblue/brown/black/(lt)yellow

And of course multiple variants of a multicolored Dino Star would be possible.

I've been doing more investigation around IPP, and I have some news to report!

The 8 color dino cube in the collection of a puzzler at IPP had 3 different blue colors, light/med/dark.

Also, I have confirmed that there are 2 blue body colors. Photo attached! Sorry I didn't have time to set up proper lighting for this photo, but you can see the difference. They both look blue in person, but I can see why the lighter one might sometimes be called grey because of the way it photographs in yellowish light.

Here is the 8-color Dino Star that Jason is referring to. There are two tetrahedrons that are colored blue, but the dark blue one has tiles that are even darker (see photo). So that's how he got three different blues.

In summary, the main colors are:
Red, dark blue, yellow (not black!), brown, white (hidden), light blue, green, and gray.

Just updating this thread for posterity.
I'm now aware of 8 colors of Dino Star.

I'm picturing 8 here, but 2 are duplicates (8 color dino stars).

From left to right and top to bottom:

8 color
green
red
8 color
white
blue
yellow
light blue (pink tiles)

The only one missing is the 4 color dino.

Thank you Jason.
After reading threads like this I always check the museum and see if the entry is complete:

Seems like it is.
