Not sure what it is about that thread. Far as I can tell Firefox doesn't crash with any other topic but that one just kills it. I blame Jaap.
The ubiquitous IE6 works fine on it. I've confirmed the crashing occurs on two different machines running the latest Firefox.

Mozilla's Firefox is just an alternative browser. It's for mavericks that think Microsoft's Internet Explorer has too much of a monopoly on things as it is.
Firefox does have some nice features though, like the "tabbed browsing" function that allows you to open new pages within that same browser window instead of opening multiple sessions like with IE. I find that opening up tabbed groups when I'm doing specific things is a great Time saver and very convenient.
However it's still only a beta and it has some issues with certain web pages, like this one for example, and doesn't display them properly or outright crashes.

Has it always caused the crash, or did it only happen since the addition of more recent replies in it? Here are a few links to the saved HTML of the message with some posts removed.
First we make sure it's an HTML problem to begin with:
No Posts Removed
If the above link still crashes, try these:

Do any of those work?
(Honestly, I have no idea what you guys get out of fighting against the predominant technology. It must be very frustrating to continually have to suffer through problems no one else experiences!)

Hehe. Actually I am just testing out Firefox. I really do like the tabbed browsing feature a lot and is about the only reason to keep using it.
I found out that if you grab the newest "nightly build" version of Firefox that the thread doesn't crash anymore. However the stylesheet isn't loading correctly. That's one of the issues we have to live with as mavericks.
So in conclusion, the "official" .8 release will crash, but a newer .8 based on one of their "nightly releases" works.
Besides, every once in a while I do like sticking it to Microsoft in my own little way.

Sandy, could you please give me a link to IE on Unix? Any of Linux or FreeBSD would do. Solaris version is also appreciated, but I don't have it at home.
Also, in fact I have IE on my only windows pc at home (that I installed just for things like TurboTax, and nothing more). What I can see is that it is a honey pot for all sorts of malice programs that want to connect to the outside all the time. Yes, I use three different utilities to get rid of them on regular basis, but it's an endless fight, and I am tired of it. So I switched to Mozilla even on Windows.

You are quite right to blame me. It seems my animated gif avatar was corrupt. I've replaced it with a new one.

Firefox 0.8 is my primary browser and the topic in "help wanted" does not crash for me. I'm running XP here at work.
By the way, I'm not a microsoft maverick but as there are so many spyware holes in IE it's not worth it's salt anymore.
One of my activies is bombing spammer sites and in doing so, spyware was being installed to my machine without me even knowing it, just by visiting the site and having hidden vbscript code execute. Firefox doesn't allow this to happen.
I consider Firefox to be "a clean slate" in terms of browsers.
By the way 1.0 is coming soon...

It shouldn't any more.
At home I use Firefox (and previously mozilla) because of the Venkman javascript debugger. However I don't have an internet connection at home, and at work only use IE , so I hadn't noticed that my gif caused crashes.
Anyway, yesterday I took my laptop over to my parents' house to update my site, and also got crashes in Firefox on every thread that had one of my posts in. Replacing my avatar fixed that problem.

That's so weird. Was it 0.8? I wonder if the OS version makes a difference.

Wayne, if all you've done is downloaded the .8 version of Firefox available from mozilla.org, likely you just happened to view thread after jaap fixed his broken avatar. Is that possible?
As for me blaming Jaap, it was purely a coincidence! I had no idea that was the problem. I was just blaming him as a joke. I didn't realize just how good I was at finding the guilty party.
