The actual mechanics of the puzzle are actually pretty clear in my mind. The part that eludes me is what sort of tools/techniques he is using to make those incredible one-shot puzzles.

Okamoto Katsuhiko is the KING of puzzle making. He is really pushing the creative mechanism envelope.

Could someone explain how it's made. I was thinking maybe same modification from a 4x4x4. Its just so hard to visualize the mechanism.

I suspect Okamoto-San made it from a standard Skewb mechanism. Even a Rubik's Revenge only turns on 3 axes. The Master Skewb by design turns on 4, making the use of the Revenge quite impractical.

Oh my gosh! Thats the best looking new functionality I have seen in a long time... or is it? Is the functionality the same as a Magic Octahedron? In any case it's beautiful and I got get one.

I see now that it is not a Magic Octohedron. It is has two slices on each of four axies like a Rainbow Cube. I got to think more about this.
