Hi All,I can happily report that Detective Bayliss,Homicide-Life On The Streets,is still trying to solve The Rubiks 4th Dimension cube in seasons 4 and 5.
I was going to post about the octopus, but some one beat me to it,Harry.

In the movie 'Brick' there is a character known as 'the brain', who is seen to be solving a cube.

In Norway they aired the Evergood Coffe comercial, and a rubiks cube animation created a one sided photo of a coffe cup with "evergood" in it:) Maybe you have seen it.

This one messed me up a little when I saw it. This is a print ad for a hospital in Brazil that does newborn infant care classes.

Image

For the rest of 'em, go to http://commercial-archive.com/node/144720

I would say it's appropriate...the big difference is that a Rubik's Cube comes with an instruction manual on how to solve it. Babies do not.

In Wall-E or however it is spelled in the first 10 minutes at one point when he opens his lunch pale there is a mixed 3x3. Also I was in Las Vegas this weekend and at the hotel Paris in the bakery there is a cake that is like a 3x3, Image not sure if it is intended to be though

Anyone watch the show Weeds?

Last night's episode showed the main character (Nancy Botwin) playing with a Rubik's Cube!

I've been recording them on my computer, I could try to posting it somewhere for you, or you could always use a torrent site to get it. I'm behind on the episodes though, I think I'm only on episode 6 and they're on like 10 or so.
Excellent show, overall very good writing, although occasionally they write themselves into a corner and have to have a character do something out of character.

I went to walmart the other day, and while looking at the cubes to see if they had anything new. I looked at one of the cubes' packaging.

There was only one cube left with this on the packaging. I had never noticed it before. I thought it strange that they have the old color scheme on brand new packaging.

Also, on the TV show "Good Eats"
...in the cabinet.

Well spotted in each case!

But I don't think that cube matches any official Rubik's color scheme, new or old. The old (Ideal) color scheme was green-opposite-yellow, the new one is green-opposite-blue. The one in your picture has all three colors adjacent, none on opposite faces!

Yeah, they were busting viral video myths and they mentioned the video that they put on YouTube which had them solving the cube with their feet and another blind folded. Then they explained how they reversed the video :-P

That's cool! Their new season starts tomorrow here (the Netherlands). It appears to be episode three of the season, so I'll be sure to watch when it is aired out here.

As did I.

It was Nickelodeon when I saw it. Apparently the same commercials appear on Cartoon Network as well.

There's been a giant cube in Melbourne Central for almost a month now and I haven't noticed it. In all fairness I haven't walked past that part in about 6 months :-P

I've to get a picture while it's there :-P

I just saw that episode. The cube part actually kinda pissed me off because to me it seemed like they were implying that all videos like that were fake and as all of us know, both are very real events.

Anyone watching the WSOP 2008?

They had an interview with Vanessa Russo and she was talking about solving the Rubik's Cube. She wasn't the fastest! lol but she did solve it in about 20 minutes, while being interviewed.

Near the beginning of the movie, "And the Band Played On" a rubik's cube is shown (with obvious symbolism)
