Yes, I know. This is not what you asked. But I can't help it. I'm addicted to Photoshop. It's 80 KB now.  No, I don't like animated avatars. No, I don't know why I posted this. Thomas

sorry about that, I didn't realize it was so big -.- I thought i t auto resized it when it let me use it, changing it now to the reasonable 80kb one!

How is his so big, mine was capped at a super small 10kb. Maby its because im relativly new.

No, it's obviously because this forum sadly allows to link to off-site avatars.
Oh and 10kb isn't "super small". Mine is only 3kb. And 80kb is still ridiculous.

Hi  Online or offline avatars contribute about the same to the (added) time when loading a page. External avatars on slow servers may increase this severely. I suggest to stop supporting offline/external avatars completely. There is no real reasons why they cannot and shuold not be uploaded to the twisty server. IMHO. This way it is easy to control the file size (including future lower size limits) automatically without each user having to do the update. Btw, is the "twisty border" used in my current avatar in any way copyrighted or are we free to use it??? - Per

My guess is that it would be hard to copyright such a thing, not to mention not worth anybody's time or money. And even if it was copyrighted, since you're using it on the site which uses the border and you're not making any money off it, I doubt anyone is going to care.

Excuse my ignorance but I don't understand the problem. That first one is pretty smart. If pages are loading too slowly just do what Georges suggests.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, an avatar such as that one can be a link from another page and usually can be any size.
