I am now thinking to produce this nice puzzle by Katsuhiko Okamoto san, after the Golden cube, but before I do, I like as is my practice, ask you all for your opinion do you like this puzzle? If you would like to buy one of these unique puzzles for US$18.00, tick the box in "Reserve Limited Puzzle Edition"; I am also trying to find the perfect name for it, such as the present name "Pyracue", "PyraSkewb" “or “PyraSkewb back to Square-1" etc. any better name suggestions?

I just saw that letter from Mr. Meffert also. I don't know where I can reserve the puzzle. Does anyone else know?

I think Tony Fisher's Rhombic Dodecahedron would be a better choice, but either way i'll still get whatever he makes.

how is the difficulty level of the Pyracue compared to that of the Skewb?

Rubo, I'm thinking that pic 1 is a scrambled state, and pics 2 and 3 are its solved state on each side. I don't think there's three different versions implied.

As for difficulty level, this is a new puzzle and I'm unfamiliar with the Skewb or others like it.

Technically, this puzzles solves identical to the skewb with 14 pieces directly corresponding to the skewb's 14 pieces.
This is how it's made (at least mentally)

An Offset Skewb is identical to a skewb except 4 of the corners are bigger than the other 4 and the square pieces are stretched to rectangle. It does not shift shape. It could be made by extending a Pryaminx into a cube shape and "floating" 4 extra corner pieces, similair to the Pyraminx Crystal

If you apply Tony Fisher's Mental Block design on an Offset Skewb, except with both adding and truncating, you produce a Pyracue: the tiny corners of an Offset Skewb become the strange miniature trianlges in a Pyracue and the rectangle faces become the long rectangles of the Pyracue (one is easily visible in pic Pyracue 1)

So, if you can overcome the "mental block" of the strange shapeshifting qualities, this puzzle solves exactly like a Skewb Ultimate

Isn't there more then one type of a Master Skewb on how it turns?

Keep in mind that producing shape variants is relatively straightforward for Meffert to produce. As great as these puzzles are they really do offer nothing more beyond the challenge of an Ultimate Skewb, only they are harder to manipulate, may bind up a little more, and are visually harder to solve.

Puzzles like the Pyraminx Crystal actually offer something really new and different, but may require entirely new tooling to build. That would also be the case with the Lattice Cube or the Rua.

The way I see it, this is one way to create more interest in the site. By producing puzzles which can be fairly easily adapted to existing tooling it saves Time and cost and generates new revenue. Eventually this would be a gauge of overall interest in new puzzles and would possibly lead to seeing puzzles built on some of the newer designs or mechanisms we see on these forums.

In other words, I see all of the developments as a good thing and will continue to support these puzzle efforts with my money. Meffert has been great for the community and I honor my fellow puzzle modders by purchasing their factory produced works.

hehe I dont know why I mentioned those puzzles. they are not related to Pyracue in any way. I am very aware that they use new mechanisms and are not easy to produce

its just that they have always been on my *WANTED* list along with Pyracue, and I kinda gave up on actually building them myself

Meffert's is working wonders these days. I could imagine them producing them, especially if mr. Okamoto gave his designs to Mefferts and the worked further on them for production.
