I was thinking about an earlier post about an edges only cube and was wondering if a corners only cube has been made. I can think of two good forms it could take. The first would require extending every corner peice half way into the possition of the "missing" edge cubies. The other would look like a skewb -- until the mechanism is turned. I hope my description are clear. I think cutting down the edge cubies and then gluing thin pieces of plastic onto the corner pieces would be the easies way to make a prototype. It could be triky to make sure the pieces don't collide, but it should be possible. I don't think I have the skills to build a good looking one, so maybe someone else would like to give it a try.

Clearly a corners only cube is a 2x2x2. Do you mean a corners + centres cube?
I think this can be done as you describe. I would have a thin square plate over the centre that is rotated 45 deg and then extend the corners as you describe. By bevelling all the edges of the plates it should be possible to stop them interfering too much.

D'oh! Yes, I meant corners and centers.
