Is it possible to automatically ignore forums so their threads don't show up on the "New posts" page anymore? I checked my user control panel but didn't find anything. This would be very useful as the amount of threads has grown so much I don't have time to read everything, and some forums (e.g., offtopic and speedsolving) are useless to me.

I believe certain users should be warned to stop posting useless stuff or replying with pointless answers. The useless threads should be removed as well as those replies. Then the forum will look more genuine. For this, an active moderator is needed. I am sure many long time members would like to help. The saddest thing of all, is that some young members just don't get it, and treat the place with no respect. I am not going to point, it is not needed, because it is obvious who those people are. I think that a topic rating system would be helpful. People can submit a thumbs up or a thumbs down to specific topic. If a user gets too many thumbs down, they will be suspended from making topics. This way, we can get people to think, and search, before they make thread.

I nominate them because they are very active and they have been members for a long time. Nominate a few others and maybe we could vote and send it to Sandy/sausage. Thanks for the nomination, but I have mentioned in the past that I do not wish to be a moderator, because (1) I am extremely busy with Uni (especially the following months), and (2) I can get a bit temperamental, which means the probability of me banning 1/3 of this forum's members is 100%! But I am sure there are others who would do an excellent job anyway. I just hope something happens soon... Pantazis

Thanks,
Dave So Sandy has already considered setting up new moderators and content editors, its just a matter of getting it to work with the forum.

Sandy planned this months ago.
Dave has already been assigned a mod of the database, along with some others.
Sandy also asked people to volunteer as forum mods but these are yet to be assigned.
None of this has been implemented yet!

Um, actually I did mean exactly what I was talking about. In the speedsolving.com forum, I can go to my user preferences and choose subforums to ignore. I'd like the same here, I think it would help a lot, and I think it should be easy.

I think we'll just have to wait for Sandy to start working on the forum again, if possible though, I would nominate Pembo, and kastellorizo (please ban 1/3 of the members).

I would agree. More moderators are needed. I like the idea of selecting forums that don't show up. The speedsolving and off topic are pretty useless to me also.

I am perfectly fine with that. Really. I think many of the older members are. Older being defined as time on forum, not biological age.

Stefan Pochmann wrote: Is it possible to automatically ignore forums... Stefan, I'm pretty sure that is not a standard feature in phpBB. Of course, with all the programming knowledge on this forum, I'm positive this can be fixed. While on the subject, there is another feature I'd like to see. So far I have added quite a few people on my foes list. Their posts are of course 'blacked out' when I'm inside a thread. But I'd also like that to see that threads that have been started by a foe, and that only have replies by other foes, are not listed on my 'New posts' page. Does anybody here know enough about phpBB to fix that? Thomas

I nominate Kastellorizo Pembo
I nominate them because they are very active and they have been members for a long time.
Nominate a few others and maybe we could vote and send it to Sandy/sausage. Yeah, make pembo a moderator! This forum would be clean of worthless junk in about an hour!

I'm afraid that if Pembo was a mod, I would be banned I would also nominate Reeeech.

I would also think Noah would be a good moderator, because he doesn't seem like the guy who gets mad easily, but knows when to put his foot down
I am not trying to speak for him, because what i posted is just what I've seen on the forum...

I definitly support Noah for mod, Stefan would make a good mod if he was on a little more, he definitly knows when to put his foot down (it happened to me about a year ago),

There will be eventually be another moderator assigned by Sandy to help, but it will not be young person, nor a recent member. It will be someone who has always had a good standing here, been patient with others, and not someone who has any history of post count pumping.

I hope the junk posts would become less so that all forums could be deemed as useful. Of course, me complaining about something without giving a solution is not a nice thing. So my recommendation would be to create a youth forum, just for the young ones. This forum as well as others (speedsolving, off topic etc) would ideally become hidden if we want to. Remember, I am not trying to enforce anything, just throwing in an idea. Pantazis
