How does this puzzle rotate? I can see how the faces might turn. I am having trouble visualizing what happens with the middle pieces. Are the pentagonal faces flat?

I made an isometric Dodecahedron (took alot of thinking to pull that off) in VectorWorks by Diehl graphsoft. its pretty much a really good CAD software that we use in school, that i got as a dumbed down edition for home use. I think that i could show the turning planes, but i will never be able to draw in enough detail to make it really really easy to understand. I will try though.. Maybe a cardboard mockup is needed? Can anyone here tell me how i might go about making one of those? I'm up to it!

I was assuming flat faces. Of course they could move if the drawing was altered in the 3d. But for the faces to be flat the middles would have to lift to move.

They dont have to lift for the faces to be flat! its a mangled 4x4 mechanism... do those pieces lift?
