Do you think this could be the inspiration or parts used for Daniel's new puzzle?

I know someone who has this puzzle. On the website it looks like all the pieces are cubes, but they are not. They are actually flattened (along one main diagonal).

I think you can make this novelty puzzle yourself.

(1). Take 8 cubes.
(2). Put a Orientation Mark on one corner of one face of each cube.
(3). For each cube ¡V
(3-1). Put 1 magnets on the middle of each of the 3 adjacent faces with N-Pole facing out.
(3-2). Put 1 magnets on the middle of each of the other 3 adjacent faces with S-Pole facing out.
(4). Arrange 8 cubes to form 2x2x2 large CUBE with all the Orientation Mark in the same position.
(5). Take all the magnets on the exposed face of the CUBE away, then fill the holes and remove the Orientation Marks.

The Puzzle made with the method (1) ¡V (4) is mine, but I am certainly not the inventor of method (5).

Cool! Thanks for the post. I'm sure our readers will be interested in these geometric puzzles and toys. Several of your puzzles could serve as insparation for twisty puzzles. Have you ever thought about how to make a twisty puzzle that is held together by magnets?
