I've never built one before. Well, I've never built anything, and don't plan to start with this puzzle. Anyways Nitro and I were talking he said this was a project on his queue, so I decided to help out and see if we were on the same level or not.

PS: He claims it took him 3 days to get the idea. I did mine in 30 seconds.

PPS: For some of the pieces to work, some edges on the 4x4x4 base need to be rounded, so I'm going to assume you can see and assume. :)

Nitro pointed out an error. I see it. Too lazy to fix it. Plus I can't think of a way. Oh well.

I thought of that too, yet soon realized it wouldn't work, seeing as the extended middle pieces shown in the first pic take up the rotation ability of the 4x4x4 centers. That makes it impossible for the corners of each outer extended layer to not be able to rotate.

Would it be possible to start with a 2x2x3 and then build functional extensions? Similar to the way a 3x3x3 can by built up to a functional 3x3x5.

That's how I always thought the easiest way would be.

An eastsheen 4x4x4 is what I'm sure Tony Fisher employed for his 2x3x4.

Is tony's 2x3x4 an eastsheen 4x4x4 inside the large cubies, or are his extensions like this?

kwm's, but I guess you could use an eastsheen 4x4 mech.
