Check out this:
http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=22161&item=5928268356

For the non-germans:
It is a magazine from the GDR (former east germany) and describes how to build a build a rubiks Cube. No variant, just the simple 3x3x3.
Seems like despite the fact the cube was invented in Hungary there were problems to bring it to the GDR.
Very strange...

Andreas

I have several pages I saved from a russian tech magazine for teenagers (from around 1984 or so), with an acticle on how to make a 3x3x3 cube yuorself, with the pictures that are _identical_ to the ones shown in the auction. And I mean it - identical! So I have no idea whether the East German or Russian magazine was the primary source for the how to.

And yes, the cube was a deficit those days in Russia, and hence tha article that showed how to make your own in a school tech shop.

Wow! Cool technique! Does anyone have this article or more information on it? I'd love to be able to see the entire thing...

Thank you Aleksey, that would be wonderful. Thanks!

BTW: I'll try to get the 3D files to you soon. Been busy on a 'lil project lately... more to come soon!

Brian, I found the article. The date I have on it is 7/1982. The very last page of it (text only on how to assemble the thing) is missing. All other pages (just three half letter size pages) including the drawings are there. I have no idea what you will do with the Russian text in it though. If you still want it, please let me know you mailing address (PM or email me) and will mail you a photocopy.

Aleksey.
