Uwe Meffert is the applicant of the patent US4453715 (filed Sep.17 1981).. But there are similar patents DE3134386 (filed Aug.31 1981), FR2524813 (Apr.7 1982). Maybe the patent isn't as clear at Uwe Mefferts hands as it should. And yes, a Halpern pyramid in good Meffert quality would be great.

These patents are expired! So it can be produces, by any one, I am not aware of any copyright or trademarks.
Btw it is a basicly a skewb, e.g. you can solve the puzzle with the skewb solution
The Magic Tetrahedron was independently invented by four inventors, Benjamin R Halpern , Kersten Meier and Marko van Eekelen together with Bernard van Houtum . The Magic Tetrahedron is also know as the Halpern-Meier Pyramid. Marko van Eekelen & Bernard van Houtum wrote a paper for there graduation in September 1981, its describes drawings and solutions and mathematical description of the puzzle.
