Skeneegee sent me some Alexander's Star parts to build this mod. The bag of parts is available to the next person who wants to build one. First come, first served.

The difference is the colour scheme? Can an original be solved into this scheme? (I guess I could work this out but I'm too lazy to think it through right now)

No, this is a 5-color puzzle. The original is, of course, 6 colors. 10 would be cool, too.

looks great Carter, If you want, I made an alternate brand sticker you could put on it. That way when it's mixed you know which way to solve it.

Adam, it is a mixture of the ones you sent me and the ones I took off of my puzzle, now I think Carters extra pieces are in the lot with them.

This one looks stickered. The orange piece on the right has a corner that is peeling off.

The bag of parts has become a melting pot of puzzles. They all have stickers. The predominant color in the batch is red.

What do you thought of? I tried to edit the colors of Carters picture and i discovered: You are not able to color three Stickers of a triangle in one color and than switch the color from tirangle to triangle.

You're right! With only Two Colors it is not possible to have contiguous sets of 3-triangles never touch another set with the same color.

A possible alternative would be the following: Start with the Top set of 3-triangles in one color (yellow in your sample picture). Then, color the surrounding 3 sets in the opposite color (white). For the third level, color the 6 sets that surround the previous level using the Top color again (yellow). Now, switch to the Bottom set (the one on the opposite side to the Top) and proceed same as above, but this time starting with the other color (white in this example).

I think that would be a nice color pattern. Don't you think?

Sounds good!
Lets calculate the number of different possible positions of this sticker variation:
This Alexander Star would have 30 pieces.
24 have different colors on both sides.
3 have color1 on both sides.
3 have color2 on both sides.
30!/(24!*3!*3!) (Positions for the Edges)
* 2^24 (Possibilities to flip the edges)
/ XX (without faces, there are XX orientations, which will look the same)
= 199237828608000/XX
Does somebody know, with which number I have to replace XX?

Congratulations, it is a fun puzzle, just make sure you silicone it up lest you want frustration to ensue.

I finally got mine off of Ebay. It was listed as "Great condition, a few stickers starting to peel". Which is fine, most of them are like that. However, once I got it today, it's obvious that some of the stickers completely came off and were glued back on, in the wrong spot! So now I have two piece where the same color is back to back.

And the shipping was great. They sent it a week after I paid for it, put it in a plastic bag, and sent it in a non-padded envelope.

Anyways, anyone have any idea on what to do? Take off all the stickers and just paint the thing?

The origional cannot be solved to this color scheme. I tried to solve the star like that origionally and found it quite impossible. There are only ten stickers of each color so of course a group of three will never go into a group of 10.

Does any one have any mods planned or built on the Alexanders star that isn't a sticker variation?
