I am working on version 2, version 1 doesn't work very well.

That looks like a tetrahedral core. Those are pretty hard to tension properly so that the face tensions are balanced and all of the pieces are well held in.

It looks like an Octahedral core to me. And wow, that's an impressive design! Do you have a physical prototype?

Yes, I have a prototype, but the 4 triangles of the face centers pop out sometimes if I turn it too fast. It is currently disassembled.

Wow, you've been on a roll with these puzzles! Two great ones in one day! I bet there's another one to be shown soon.

Professor FTO! Sweet!

Though, I wonder if it would benefit from a little pillowing...

Welcome to the forum! I think you've come to the right place. :)

I'd love to see a video even with flaws! All of us have many "version 1's" that were disappointing. We all know it can be a long road from the first wonderful cad screenshot to a real puzzle video, much less one that turns well. Maybe these designs could be a candidate for Oskar's puzzle sponsor idea mentioned in this thread:

Version 2 is pillowed, but not very noticeably.

I did a lousy job stickering the first one, and I have not been able to cut corners at more than 10 degrees. I hope the v2 is better.

Here's the question that some people are asking: Will this be on sale at Shapeways when a fully functioning, non-popping prototype is finished?
